@christa if it’s any consolation, flights to Ohio were crazy expensive even back in January when I was booking my trip!

I ended up choosing the Toronto area because it was a direct flight from SF and still normal prices back then. They’re currently sitting at ~50-60% cloud cover. 😰

Sadly relevant XKCD that I personally experienced in 2017. We were at 98.7% totality and decided not to make the 200 mile drive (and 8+ hours of waiting in traffic) to a see it from a spot in totality.

It was like a mildly overcast day. Besides the crazy shadows, it was hard to tell anything was happening without solar filters. Turns out the sun is really, really bright!

Anyone have a 200-700 mm X-mount lens I could borrow? I want to take a photo of a glowing ball of gas next week. It’s 93 million miles away but it’s quite large so any decent telephoto will do.
