solongaphasia,

i have thought about doing that before! how did the thickness work out?

solongaphasia,

excellent! did you build the guitar yourself? either way, would love to know the woods!

solongaphasia,

build one! it’s a blast!

solongaphasia,

nice. i bet the body weighs a good bit unless there’s some relief in there!

always a fan of zero inlay necks, they look so clean. the white on maple really works for me

Sometimes it’s the simple things you love. What’s yours? (imgur.com)

Everyone likes to look at the legends, but admiring what you have already is the key to happiness. This is my 6th gen Honda Accord, the first V6 model. It only puts out 160 WHP and 155 lb/ft of WTQ, but it has enough acceleration to put you back in your seat and is fast enough to pass everyone on the highway. Most importantly...

solongaphasia,

when i drove my beamer for the first time… it was over. the responsiveness of both the steering and accelerator, matched with all the creature comforts (even in a 30+ year old vehicle!) and classic styling… have owned an e30 that i stupidly got rid of, and now an e34, looking at purchasing a new (to me) e83 x3. truly, the bmw is the ultimate driving machine.

(psa if you are not rich or willing to turn wrenches often, they may not be the wisest choice…)

solongaphasia,

bmw 2002 hands down. i would kill for a clean daily but that’s some serious money….

solongaphasia,

yo if you don’t mind sending me one too that’d be dope

solongaphasia,

wow! what year? 34k is insanely low, i can imagine it was either meticulously kept or you have had to deal with a lot of updating…

either way, beautiful! i’ve always been a fan of pop up headlights.

solongaphasia,

i bet that td is a beast! i’ve been thinking about looking into a newer diesel bmw myself.

sitting next to my beamer in the driveway is a 1980 mercedes 300td i inherited, so i am keenly aware to diesel’s drawbacks. what was once cheaper than gasoline is now close to $5 a gallon for the past couple years, so it’s just been sitting.

both vehicles are great, the td is naturally aspirated though and slow as shit :-)

solongaphasia,

what models of japanese cars?

i bet that e36 was sweet. if you don’t love turning wrenches every week, it can get quite annoying to keep them up to date.

e30s are fantastic. sad to say that i owned one and made a dumbass decision to get rid of it… 1991 318i in brilliantrot red… let’s not talk about that one lol

solongaphasia,

sweet! what year? i always thought the e32 had a super sleek profile, though i haven’t had the chance to own one yet

solongaphasia,

stating 500 as 0.5k to seem more impressive is such a fucking elon thing

solongaphasia,

thank you for all you’re doing on this. godspeed

[Meta] Where should we go from here? (lemmy.world)

Welp, this lemmy thing seems to be taking off a bit, so I wanted to open up a discussion on where you all think the community should go. I personally enjoy the freeform discussion / catch-all nature of the community for any and all car enthusiast-related things. Comms for specific models, subtypes of vehicle, etc can be their...

solongaphasia,

maybe we should set up a community for repairs and fixes, similar to r/cartalk? i know it would be useful if we could build it, as reddit was one of the first places i’d go to see info about car repairs (as far as how common, fixes that may not be in a manual, general advice about an issue)…

of course the issue initially will be getting people to join multiple communities, but with spez and musk both shitting the bed on the same day, now is the time.

solongaphasia,

the wise words of heraclitus!

if you’re interested in the post title or philosophy in general, i highly recommend the philosophize this podcast. host stephen west takes you through the entire history of philosophy, with high quality episodes and almost no fluff/filler. excellent podcast!

solongaphasia,

might be some other more important things he needs to convince Ja of first…

solongaphasia,

speaking as someone who started following the sixers in 2013… you’re in for some disappointment
