some_guy,

I’m not sure why you think that’s the case. I use Plex entirely locally and have never had an issue when the internet was out. In fact my modem went kaput last year and I had a solid 2 days without internet connection. Plex didn’t even blink. The only thing I couldn’t access was Actor/Crew individual pages, as those don’t store metadata locally and are fetched on demand by the client.

some_guy,

Please share if you find these, I’ve been looking for a while myself. I’d like to make them the episode cover images on Plex

Does anyone else have users watching the same content over and over?

I have a user who has watched Bedtime Stories with Adam Sandler 13 times in a month and I am starting to get concerned. I try to mind my own business with what people watch but when the stats say that it is the most watched movie and there is only one user that watched it, you start to get curious.

some_guy,

I will never understand people who can fall asleep in silence. It just seems odd to me.

Netflix and Best Buy said adieu to discs — but with streamers deleting titles to cut costs, could DVDs and Blu-rays mimic the revival of vinyl and CDs?

some_guy,

you’re unlikely to see any increase in quality between streaming and… DVD/Blu-ray

tell me you dont care about video quality at all without telling me you dont care about video quality at all.

it is incredibly easy in a blind a/b test to pick put a streamed title vs a native bluray title. by video and by audio (provided you are using something that isnt your shitty built-in TV speakers). im not sure why youre confidently making this assertion that literally anyone can test at home with basic equipment.

some_guy,

Titles that have never been released on bluray (but did have a DVD release) are still noticably better on disc than streamed. And that is a surprising number of older TV shows.

It’s not even a subjective preference thing. Any layman could identify the physical media as higher-quality in a blind test.

If you’re like watching on a phone or small tablet I can understand why you would think they’re equivalent, but in any kind of home-theater environment (even a cheap-ass one) physical media will be obviously higher-quality in every scenario.

some_guy,

Do you just assume any art that isn’t a perfect attempt at realism is AI?

some_guy,

yeah i’m impressed you can make full-sentence comments with emojis

some_guy,

So what point are you trying to make with that?

That sony is fully at fault here?

“Please join us in celebrating love and unity at the Cox-Shart wedding.”

some_guy,

What’s your case for Home Alone then?

That’s a Christmas movie to the core.

some_guy,

God forbid we talk about articles on Lemmy!

some_guy,

Thanks for weighing on a list of Christmas movies, jackass.

Discord Now Explicitly Bans Misgendering and Deadnaming Transgender People on the Platform (www.advocate.com)

Discord has expanded its Hateful Conduct Policy to explicitly include prohibitions against misgendering and deadnaming in a policy update. Accompanying this policy update, Discord has also implemented a comprehensive warning system to enforce these guidelines effectively.

some_guy,

Cool story bro. Nobody cares for your casual bigotry here.

Do you read hackernews comments in the shower?

This seems like a pretty cut and dry thing: either they are identified or they are not identified.

    College Problems - Need Help

My college professor told us on the first day of class that attendance was optional. The class is very simple so I decided no not attend the second day, at which they announced the class actually was attendance mandatory. I did not know this until over a month into missing classes. Now, the class ended early, and having a higher...

Lesson learned - follow the syllabus 100% of the time.

I wouldn’t appeal this personally (you do certainly have that right and you know the situation better than anyone). In the grand scheme of things a B instead of an A won’t make much of a difference if you aren’t competing for top-tier Law or Medical schools post-grad. It will be a lot of bureaucracy that will ultimately come down to he said/she said.

You might have the best luck just showing up to the prof’s office hours and asking (informed) questions about the missed material. Building some rapport with the professor might open them up to some leniency, especially if you’ve shown that you’re dedicated to making up the material.

    some_guy,

Maybe it’s not so much ‘being spoiled’ as not having a high tolerance for cheaply made, schlocky fan-service?

Pretending that we are going back to the Stone Age in the matter of a few generations is textbook prepper BS.

But I mean hey I mean play the make-believe label game all you want. You are both delusional.
