sp6,

On the Playstation side, RPCS3 is the PS3 emulator, it’s great. There are some experimental PS4 emulators, but they aren’t ready yet.

On the Xbox side, Xenia works well as an Xbox 360 emulator; it’s not linux native though, but it might work well under wine. I’m not aware of Xbox One (or later) emulators.

On the Nintendo side, I would be surprised if a Nintendo game that couldn’t be emulated exists. Even Switch games run very well on day 1 of release.

sp6,

For Deck, you’ll likely be using EmuDeck for your emulation setup, which will install PCSX2 for PS2 games.

You can see the other available EmuDeck emulators here: emudeck.github.io/…/steamos/-does-emudeck-in…

FPIFX is a 2020 target date index fund, which is currently 50% stocks and 50% bonds.

VT is a total world stock market index fund - 100% stocks, 0% bonds.

The answer to this entirely depends on “how far away are you from retirement?” - if your retirement is 20+ yrs away, go VT. If it’s like, 3yrs ago, go FPIFX.

Stock Android pushes a Google account really hard, but you can technically avoid it. You won’t be able to download any apps from the Playstore until you sign into a Google account, BUT you can download F-Droid from a web browser, and from F-Droid you can download Aroura Store, and get all of your Playstore apps from there.

Or you can just use a degoogled ROM instead, which makes it a lot easier to avoid the Google account by default.

-Ori and the Will of the Wisps on Steam Deck

-Entropy : Zero 2 on desktop

They’ve both been amazing, especially Entropy. Can’t believe it’s free

Even though I don’t play many MMOs anymore, I still boot up Old School Runescape every now and then. It’s still a good time.

I’ve also heard good stuff about STAR WARS: The Old Republic, but have yet to try it myself

There’s no one-liner that will make the importance of privacy “click” for most people, since it requires a bit of abstract thought, but this site is the closest I’ve seen to it: www.socialcooling.com

If you want to do something about it, check out privacyguides.org, or the lemmy community (and instance) run by its owner, !privacyguides

sp6,

I think from the perspective of the employee’s reputation, it’s an important distinction, due to the “with cause” vs. “without cause” implication.

When I hear “laid off” I think the person was probably a fine employee who they just couldn’t keep around because higher-ups wanted more money. But when I hear “fired” I think “well did they take a shit on their boss’s desk or something?”

Through proton, yes. The game has always worked with anti-cheat disabled (so no PvP multiplayer), but proton-compatible anti-cheat has been supported since early April, so all multiplayer functionality has worked since then.

This article is referring to a recent MCC patch that broke proton anti-cheat for about a week, thankfully it’s fixed now.

I remember reading that the higher grain content in dry food actually causes more dental bacterial growth, but I could be wrong. Our current plan is to regularly use dental treats to solve any dental health issues

sp6,

Considering less than a month ago they were making headlines for mistakenly banning linux players (but eventually unbanning them, thankfully), makes me wonder how many of those bans are false-positives.

I was one of the linux players who was banned. It took them about 8 days for them to unban me in-game, and then it took another week for my EA ban history to change from “active” to “overturned,” with an email from EA. No apology, no sort of in-game compensation, just basically a “be thankful you can play again.”

~25% of the linux players are still banned. Some definitely cheated, some I would be shocked if they cheated, just considering the amount of hours and money they had put into their account, along with how enthusiastic they were about getting themselves (and others) unbanned. So shocked that I’m almost certain they’re false positives. Which makes me hesitant to keep playing - what if that happens to me? If they treat their Steam Deck and linux users this way, is that a game I really want to support?

sp6,

Well Respawn explicitly enabling Easy Anti-Cheat’s Proton support (plus the game being Steam Deck Verified) is about as official as we’re gonna get for the vast majority of multiplayer games. I think it’s more of an issue around EA firing 99% of their QA testers…

I used LineageOS for years on my OnePlus 3, and once that stopped getting updates, I snagged a Pixel 5a and immediately put CalyxOS on it. Both have been great experiences.

sp6,

During setup, Calyx shows a list of the apps installed by default, and allows you to uncheck most of them. I personally didn’t feel like it was much bloat at all, but I did uncheck a good bit of the apps. If you went through the setup process with all default settings though, I can definitely see why you’d think that

sp6,

!2007scape. RuneLite works fantastically.

RuneLite is linux native though. If you want something specifically through Wine, others have said Guild Wars 2 and FFXIV, but I’ve also heard good stuff about STAR WARS: The Old Republic. And if you’re okay with something a little more obscure/“out there”, Shakes and Fidget has great reviews (it’s a satire on MMORPGs).

sp6,

More info from the article: quality mode is 1440p 30fps, and performance mode is 960p (upscaled to 1440p using FSR2) 60fps. Although late-game, specifically the big cities in act 3, can dip into mid-20fps range

And honestly, we’ve had a surprising amount of fun with Liar’s Dice too (a.k.a. Bluff/Perudo/Dudo; 15-30min)

Dang, I won something in this raffle but didn’t check back on scrap.tf in time to claim it :( Thought they’d send me an email or something, but nope. Oh well

You’re a saint! I just DM’d you my steam profile
