@simon We added this functionality last year, it's called "author profiles". You can also combine it with "custom index pages" to add an author bio.

@simon we definitely need to invest more time into runnable examples, but we currently have so much on our plates that we have work for 3-4 more people. However, not enough funding to pay them.

Instant previews are finally happening! 🚀

After finishing the new footnote tooltips positioning logic, I've started working on instant previews, which render internal links to sections in a tooltip as well. Of course, this will be opt in. Here's what I've got already:

The issue tracker is my inbox. There are days where all of this is like playing whack-a-mole. You close 2 issues, the next day 4 new appear, 3 of which from users that have not read our documentation.

Reading, answering, troubleshooting – stealing time for doing useful things.

We're currently trying to talk to enterprises, taking calls via Calendly. Intermediate result: on 50% of calls, I'm there alone. Happens even with F500 companies. I'm not sure if people forget or what happens, but I'm decently annoyed by that level of unreliability.

Pro tip: sparse checkout to speed up docs builds

Building your docs on GitHub Actions and using git-revision-date-localized? So you need to set fetch-depth: 0. This resulted in 24s checkout time on every build. By doing a sparse checkout, time dropped to 2s.

Fun fact: Docusaurus has almost 3x more stars on GitHub, but 7-8% less users (= repositories using it) than MkDocs 😅

Material for MkDocs currently has 35.6k repositories that use it, so 3 out of 4 MkDocs projects are going for Material for MkDocs.
