The biggest problem with that is that rich people don’t actually have massive piles of cash, they have massive piles of stocks. Devalue the currency, and their stocks are worth a lot more actual cash

I think it’s a tiktok meme. Someone somewhere brought up the question of “say you’re stranded in the woods. Would you rather encounter a random man or a bear?” Most men say the man, obviously. Most women have to think about it. A lot of men are offended by the idea that a woman might be roughly as afraid of random men as she is random bears, and a lot of those guys are in women’s DMs making real good cases for the bear.

I think you need to change the question a little bit to get it through thick male skulls. Instead of just a random man, imagine it’s a random man who’s likely to be at least 10% larger than you, has been taking testosterone supplements, and wants to have sex with you. The bear seems a little bit more reasonable at that point.

I mean, among racists yeah. This isn’t really analogous to race, though. Rape culture is a thing. Women have legitimate reason to be wary around men in a way that white people do not have legitimate reason to be wary around black people.

Yes, literally everyone agrees that rape is bad. The problem is that in our culture, we have a bad habit of rationalizing what we do as not really rape. How many times have you heard someone ask what a woman was wearing, or why she was walking home at night instead of driving, or why she was alone at a bar, or why she didn’t fight back, or why she didn’t report sexual violence as soon as it happened? Why does nearly every woman have at least one experience with sexual violence? Why did we elect a guy who openly admitted to sexual assault as president? It’s almost like we have a culture around enabling and forgiving rape, in large part by rationalizing it as “not really” rape. I wonder if there’s a word for a culture that enables sexual violence.

It was awesome! It gave me strong Last Exile vibes, despite the two series being nothing alike. Out of the anime I listed in that comment, it’s the one I’d recommend the most based on Wolf’s Rain
