As this weekend draws to an end I'm thinking once again that weekends should be three days long. One day for chores, one day for meeting friends and doing activities and one day for just chilling and recharging your batteries.
Ever since we moved into this building three years ago we've been able to observe two male blackbirds hanging out together whenever we see them. Since young blackbird siblings usually go their separate ways at some point, we are, of course, convinced they're a gay couple 😁 But whatever the reason, they're just super adorable to watch. Hopping through the grass together, chilling on tree branches next to each other. Where one goes the other one follows ❤
Back into language learning, day 48 of my current Duolingo streak! Making small progress by doing one or two lessons every night but it's progress! Today, during a Japanese lesson, I paused and appreciated the fact that I can read and understand simple Japanese sentences and how happy this makes me. I used to believe that Japanese would be nearly impossible to learn but it's not and I'm doing it :blobfoxbox:
@starsandinfinity
Congratulations! I tried to start Japanese and I tapped out to work on Spanish (which I started a few years ago and then stopped), but I fully intend to come back to it. You're doing great! Would you be willing to share your Duolingo name?
So since yesterday was Krampus Day we watched Krampus, it has become an annual tradition. love this movie so much, they did a really good job with the Krampus costume and I love that they did their homework and cast an Austrian actress to play the grandmother.
Hey! There's a person in my life who's struggling badly with still not having found their place/path in their mid 30s. Knowing what they'd like to do, yes, but feeling like they're never gonna get there, just being stuck forever, feeling like a loser, too old to get a chance anymore. So I'm looking for motivational stories from people who managed to find success in life despite starting out late and having the odds stacked against them. Boosts are very much appreciated, thank you ❤
Can somebody tell me how to add gifs to posts? I see people using them but I have no idea how to do it. When I select gifs from my phone's keyboard options it tells me that the content can't be displayed. Halp?
@starsandinfinity I’d need more information on your phone and your keyboard app, but short answer is it doesn’t seem to pass that information in a way that Mastodon supports. I don’t have anything like that set up on my phone because I am An Old Person but at least you’ve got it adding gifs the old fashioned way!
@starsandinfinity I'd have to test a bit, but it may have something to do with the link format. It looks like you're using a mobile browser to view YouTube and copying the URL from the address bar, which is Right and Good, but you may need to get the link from the Share button on the site so it's pointing to a more general URL and not specifically a mobile browser URL.
Hey pizza peeps! I thought I'd introduce myself a little more since I've mostly been lurking since I signed up. First of all, I love music. Couldn't imagine life without it. Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance are my two favourite bands and I have a special place in my heart for 2000s emo/pop punk (my handle is a reference to the Van Gogh quote that inspired Fall Out Boy's album title "Infinity on High").
I guess that's all for now! I'd like to be more active here and maybe share some of my favourite music now and then. Alright, good night (or good morning)! ✌
There should be a word for the very specific kind of sadness you feel about the fact that you won't be able to read/watch/play/listen to all the books/films/series/games/podcasts you would want to because one lifetime is just not enough time.
#introduction :blobcat_box:
I'm a 40-year-old gay nerd with a dog and way too many interests. She or they, both pronouns are fine. Big fan of sci-fi (Babylon 5 is one of my top favourite shows ever) and casual gamer. Mostly playing Endless Sky atm - a tribute to the 90s series Escape Velocity, which I loved as a teen. Will finish setting up my profile properly soon, looking forward to getting to know you (:
