i wonder if the image quality on mastodon is good enough so that people could determine which image came out of my iphone 13 pro vs my sony a6000

@decryption Absolutely had to zoom in but I guessed right = a6000 and looks like I’m right based on other comments

@decryption Imagine how much government scattershot regulation they could have avoided if they just let people install apps from the Internet like they do on a Mac.

@decryption Been noticing the same thing in recent months. Some legit stuff I’ve been waiting to arrive ends up in Spam, and some exceedingly obvious dreck sneaks into my inbox.

That said, they still do a better job than iCloud Mail 🫠

@decryption truly, I’ve found the same thing with a nicer set of headphones.

“wow has that quiet background vocal been there all this time???” stuff. I love it.

@decryption this made me wistful for my own forum-dwelling youth. Some of my closest friends are people I met while chatting about Nintendo games on forums for years. Felt like a real sense of community.

@decryption MacTalk was so helpful at the start of my Mac-enjoyer journey too. The forum full of helpful people, the podcast I’d religiously sync to my phone the morning it came out and listen to, it was all good stuff. So thanks for that 😀

@decryption I loved my original DeathAdder. Used it for years.
Only got rid of it because I have grown to hate the drag of a cable on the desk.

@decryption I’ve been super super happy with my Focal Bathys.
Got them like 60% off since Addicted to Audio are clearing out the brand.
I could never imagine spending $1400 on headphones, but somehow convinced myself $799 was okay 😅

@decryption I’m so excited to try it! No app for my LG TV but hopefully AirPlay isn’t too shit an experience for it.

@decryption the system is not nominal due to a condition! So very clear and useful.

@decryption this is the point I stop auto renewing and get really picky about when I use GP.
I found I do t use it enough to justify the cost honestly, but if there’s a game I’ll play with friends for a month then $18 is still cheaper for that at least.

@decryption your CD posts have me pretty excited to finally grab my CDs from Parent Storage interstate very soon so I can Have Them and also Rip Them.
Fill out my Plex server with stuff that isn’t on Bandcamp 😎

Question for those playing - how many of you are playing this as your first fighting game?

I have never gelled well with fighting games, but the addition of modern controls has triggered something in my brain, and I am absolutely in love.

Wondering how many of you are long-time fighting game fans vs. those of us coming to the genre in earnest for the first time.

@pixelsforbreakfast I’ve been playing fighters including SF for years, but I find the modern controls fantastic.
It’s nice to immediately have some grasp of the options a character presents by playing, rather than by checking their command list.
A smash-brosification of street fighter, if you will.

Really sad to hear about shutting down. @patrickklepek has long been a favorite writer of mine, and the rest of the crew developed a totally unique voice in the space.

Hearing Patrick talk about questioning worth, and if he was able to do something else, was something I super identity with.

My dream was to be a games writer full-time, and I fulfilled that dream once. But then games writing in Australia became an almost impossible way to make a living.

@hellerphant Oof, mate I relate to this hard.
I was an avid games magazine reader growing up, writing for Hyper or something was my absolute dream job.
Seems I was roughly a generation too late (and also I didn’t live in Sydney so that didn’t help either).
I’m grateful I can do it occasionally on the side though.
