You omitted the most ruinous SCOTUS outcome of them all. The one we don’t talk about much anymore because we’ve normalized an intolerable situation that changed everything and makes future change to our national character, laws and and norms exceedingly difficult going forward: the odious and completely ill-founded Citizens United ruling. We were all totally fucked the minute that came down. All because a few ideologues didn’t want to have a coronation.

Tonight will be my fourth night on a CPAP. I’m withholding running commentary until I’ve had a week’s experience. Like everything else in our stupid medical system, Apria Healthcare, which seems to have a near-monopoly with the insurance companies, does a less than stellar job prepping you well.

I’m also really tired of talking about this as a Republican/MAGA problem. It’s also a batshit stupid Americans problem. I just talked to two college-educated neighbors, fundamentally progressive, and quite well off, who aren’t going to vote because “both sides say the same kinds of BS.” Argh!

Today, the cat scared me witless. She just vanished. I tore up the house for an hour, She was just gone. I drove around the hood, and alerted neighbors. I was making a nextdoor “lost kitty” post when I heard a tiny meow. She had climbed into the springs of the couch and was trapped by the cone around her head. She was so high up in there, I didn’t see her when I looked under the couch an hour earlier.

Do you listen closely to the conversations of average Americans? I do. Everywhere I go. And it’s fucking horrifying and keeps me up at night. To say we’re dumber than dirt is really kinda rude toward potting soil. And that, in my view, more than anything else, explains this MAGA scourge.

White Evangelical voters (and campaign volunteers) are one of the most powerful weapons the Right and Trump have.

And as you may have heard, those people, while typically loathing Jews, just love Israel, on purely theistic grounds.

While some might turn their nose up and not vote at all, the one thing that will guarantee that won’t happen is cutting off military support for Israel. Biden has few good options.

@shoq Their world, as usual on the right wing, is a total projection. Seems to me these tragedies are most likely to be perpetrated by people like them—frequently young, white, maga-type, gun-nut, probably-insecure bigots who hate people unlike them. Or maybe pissed off because trump’s being prosecuted. Just being maga makes one mentally questionable at best, IMO. So they can lean on the mental illness angle all they want, but they’re still projecting. Sorry, tired and rambling. Just a thought.

I just came from @Publix. They have just raised prices like 25% across the board. The second time in 2 years. A box of cereal is now $8.59. There is no justification for such increases. Publix is an “employ owned company” (cough), totally controlled by the Jenkin’s family’s 20% stake. They are ultra-conservative GOP donors, DeSantis enablers, and generally terrible people.
