Legalization unfortunately doesn’t always mean expunging past records. And let’s be real, the GOP are greedy enough to make money from legal weed in one state and make more money from private prisons in another.
Librarians and teachers are doing the good work out there. I wish our society (US) would do a better job of recognizing how important they are and just let them do their job without having to deal with all this culture war bullshit
Firefox + uBlock Origin is a godsend. Shout outs also go to DuckDuckGo and the Privacy Badger add-on
Fwiw, my experience with Firefox has been so good that I’ve started using Pocket and Thunderbird as well (both also developed by Mozilla). There’s a bit of a learning curve, but resources are easily found online, and the privacy and customization benefits easily outweigh the hiccups, imo
Seems like AD methane is better than fracked/drilled methane, for the use cases where methane is necessary (peaker plants until we have enough battery storage, high temp combustion, etc).
Oh for sure! Speeding up interconnections is important for siting renewables at the pace we need, but not if it means FERC is going to approve NG projects faster too
Not particularly. I kind of like Lemmy, and the Fediverse in general, growing organically as people discover it, rather than it being the shiny new thing
Regulations on the size of cars, ratcheting down for new models. Iirc, one of the factors in the increasing size of cars is due to how fuel efficiency standards are implemented - apparently it’s easier to make a car larger, but lighter, than to actually improve efficiency
I’ve used Plex off and on for a few years, getting more into it as streaming prices have been rising. What direction are they taking that you don’t particularly like? I’ve also seen Kodi - which I’m intrigued by. Any thoughts there?
