I think it’s wild how people post “omg I just got this entire series for $299! It was on sale so I had to!” Like in 5 years, you may not even have it! Company goes under. Gets bought out. Or my personal favourite, it becomes unavailable because the owner pulled it over a legal dispute. Like so many songs off Spotify. These companies never get involved like well we got our cash too bad so sad.

Cook wants you to buy an Apple Pencil for each specific iPad. Air? Get the new Apple Pencil Air! iPad Pro? Get the new Apple Pencil Pro! Base iPad? We got you. All new Apple Pencil!

The dude is literally designing hardware specific, um, hardware. Have an iMac? Sorry, you bought the Apple Keyboard Pro. It’s not compatible!

One of my first jobs was at a gas station. The lady who hired me was in shit with the company because she hired some dude and he was skimming peoples CCs. They found out, fired him but she did zero background check on the guy. Came back to bite her. I was his replacement

It’s a con. There is no chip. None that works. This is Holmes 2.0. Except he may never be caught. The project will get into more “problem” and he’ll string investors along to secure himself a net positive position before letting it languish into oblivion. It’s probably one of the things that’s actually making him money.

Break down the whole thing. What am I supposed to go to McChip to get some kid with 6 weeks training to install these? If not some doctors with a 8y waiting list? How do you scale that part of the process? Doctors aren’t bountiful. And expensive.

And the elephant in the room: you can’t shove some electrodes into your midbrain and do things. The video of the guy moving the cursor around can be done now in macOS Sonoma with accessibility features. It would have been a different story if he was actually thinking about opening a photo from 3 years ago and it did that. But he was just moving a cursor around.

All he’s actually accomplished outside of lining his coffers is kill a bunch of innocent apes.

Wouldn’t be that much work to create codes for shippers to give out. It’s basically how tracking works. But in this case, they give the seller a code. When that code is scanned in, the shipper pulls up the associated address, and delivers it. Only the shipping place would ever know your details.

Honestly sounds like terrific b to b software to develop. Create a universal standard and we all move to not exposing our name and number and address to random strangers who do god knows what with it.

I thought there was strict regulation to ensure crown corporations operated at a 0 profit margin. They can do things like employee bonuses or salary increases to eat up any profits but can’t operate under the premise of “making money”?

Yeah that’s #1 bullshit. DHT is a sex steroid and hormone that defines the male genitalia during the embryonic development. It builds out the entire male reproductive system right down to pubic hair.

Steroids always affect testosterone and that mostly affects men because they carry substantially more. So that’s sort of a clue in what area they target.

Creativity and “intelligence” are entirely abstract, human concepts. There is no one mechanism that governs them let alone a single hormone for that matter.

Also, just want to point out that our ancestors had literally perfect teeth. Perfect. Crooked and fucked up teeth is a modern infliction (no one really knows why). So just sayin.

Cheers. It’s wild people still prefer to believe that fluoride makes them dumber and less creative lol.

What an absolute dumpster fire 🤪

Same. I ditched AZ once they added ads PV. After 2 20s back to back ads, I unfurled my Jolly Roger. Fuck ads.

New iPad Pro only works with the new Apple Pencil Pro. Which is the same price as the 2nd Gen.

So anyone with a current Pro and a 2nd gen pencil needs to upgrade both. That’s insane.

Now if that isn’t the shadiest Cook move I don’t know what is. What’s next? Do I need a special Remote Pro with the new Apple TV? Are we really doing “Pro only” accessories?? Is that where we are these days???

All 4 Apple pencils still being sold as of writing this. Yes even the first gen that’s nearly 10 years old. And despite 3 others available.

So much for tight Apple product lines.

They are truly lost

ultratiem,
@ultratiem@lemmy.ca avatar

Back when the premise was to make the pencil a standalone product. Now Cook wants to have 4 iPad lines and 4 pencils that only work with basically a single model. Just. How are people okay with this!

This dude woke up and decided, blood.

The realtors will find a way to make it bad news, don’t worry.

PlayStation official response to Helldivers 2 fans (nitter.poast.org)

“Helldivers fans – we’ve heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward....

I truly hate companies get away with this kind of shit…

Is a sound level of 105 decibels for a few seconds enough to rupture a person's eardrum?

In 2022, a Texas family filed a lawsuit against Apple for damaging their son’s hearing after an Amber Alert went off while he was wearing Airpods. According to Google, the maximum volume of phone headphones is around 105 decibels. The family are claiming that the son now requires hearing aids after his eardrum ruptured....

www.nidcd.nih.gov/…/noise-induced-hearing-loss

Apple did add the option to change the tone volume after this incident. So there must be something here. Also, it’s unlikely that the volume was only 105 db. But from most medical sources, typically up to 110 db is acceptable and may only cause hearing loss after decades. A siren hits up to 120-130 db.

Punctured ear drums usually occur because of pressure differences and not just loud sounds, so there may be more here than just loudness as AirPods do change the pressure around the ear (the Pro’s actually have an exhaust to alleviate the pressure build up from the sound and the seal around the ear).

Yeah, I’d say it’s 100% plausible.

Change your Steam review

I’m a PS5 player, so I can’t make an impact, but if you did write a negative review (thank you, you made this happen ❤️) please consider taking the time to change it! This was clearly not AH decision and the game deserves an accurate review, it’s easily one of the best games I’ve ever played and definitely the best...

ultratiem,
@ultratiem@lemmy.ca avatar

Right on! NO ONE CHANGE THEIR REVIEW! This needs to be there for ever. So when Sony a year down the road thinks “maybe?” they can see what happened last time.

No no no no. Review states indefinitely!

ultratiem,
@ultratiem@lemmy.ca avatar

Yeah fuck no. AH can sue Sony for this (and should). But my review stays there for life as a reminder to Sony (and anyone else who tries to pull this shit).

Just because they backed down =/= they did the right thing. They caved to public (and I’m sure legal) pressure. Nothing more. Fuck Sony and fuck changing a review because WE made a company back down.

No no no no no. No.

ultratiem,
@ultratiem@lemmy.ca avatar

Yes. If you want to play “by the rules.” They don’t. Not sure why we should then.

It’s amazing how so many players are fine with rootkits masquerading as “anti-cheat protection” 🤷‍♂️
