Although still in development and far from finished, (available via Testflight), Oliphaunt is an impressive example of a Mastodon client that uses the Human Interface Guidelines to it's full potential, and is well above from Ivory's offerings on macOS-- an application I've always felt was too "mobile-y" in a world where it's become increasingly common for developers to prioritize iOS/iPadOS first, port to macOS, and call it a day. I am very appreciative of the content density showcased here, and am excited to see the finished product.

I do find it important to note that, much like most macOS apps, it appears that Oliphaunt will eventually rely on a subscription model, nor will it ever be open source.

    @MattHodges it is insane that cannabis is still illegal in these United States, with some states offering harsh punishment which can lead to 6 months in prison and a 2,000USD fine, making it harder for those who may have turned to cannabis as a coping mechanism to find work.

    I work at a liquor store. I have seen what liquor has done to people. It is a drug which surpasses class. It is a substance abused by the working poor, and the highest classes of the property owning rich. There is congresspersons in office who revel in the manufacturing & consumption of this substance, spinning it as something classy, who will turn around and caucus with those who promote the harshest, most visceral punishments for simple possession of a plant which carries almost nearly the same effect of escapism, cheaper to produce, manufacture, and sell.

    Keeping cannabis illegal is yet another attempt at dividing classes, nothing more and nothing less. Making cannabis illegal from the very beginning was a way to demonize those of certain marginalized minorities. Continuing to keep cannabis illegal is another "single-issue voter" distraction from our own class consciousness, keeping us divided and preventing us from working together hand-in-hand to create a better world-- not one for getting high, but a world where we don't assume the worst in one another.

    the people who actually care about sideloading: "god, imagine all the high quality FOSS applications that could be produced for iOS if there wasn't a profit incentive to make a return on developer licenses. oh well, guess ill have to buy an android phone"
