NBN isn't as shit as what it was, for me at least.
A 100GB Unreal project is a mild inconvenience now, about 15 minutes-ish.
On the other hand if I needed to upload that we're looking at well over 6 hours if I'm lucky.
@sortius@wallamba there's a few ISPs offering 1000/400 for residential users now - I pay Leaptel $219/m for it! It should be $99/m, but better than not having it at all I guess
Just received an SMS from Fines Victoria hitting me up for $250 for an apparent electoral commission infringement from 2014!?
The URLs and quoted infringement number all check out, not a scam. What the hell, I wasn't even living in the country at the time, but they come knocking 10 years later?
Hey Coles, instead of my head, why don't you use those self checkout cameras to automatically identify the veggies I'm trying to find in your shit menu.
Seeing a lot of Reddit posts like this. Maybe, just maybe, this is actually a growing sentiment in Australia and there's a minuscule chance something will be done about it?
There's actually some decent sized apartments for sale in South Melb / Southbank, suitable for a family of three. The problem is that they all come with gyms, pools, tennis courts, lifts etc that add an extra $700/month in owners corp fees.
@decryption Not even close to being of value. The convenience is nice I suppose, but you'd need to be using it every day, but you're paying a 3x to 4x premium. Tennis courts are bullshit, such a waste of space.
I'm considering pulling our mobile apps off the iOS App Store and Google Play. Especially iOS, it's barely worth the hassle, if you're a SaaS business and don't use Apple's IAP the review process can be brutal.
Our software works brilliantly as a PWA (progressive web app), a native app offers no benefit at all except very minimal "exposure" on the stores.
Google Play is considerably easier, but all the latest news on further scrutiny during the review process and the new verification requirements are going to make it just as hard.
The major drawback is Apple and Google have indoctrinated people to believing the only real way to use software on a phone is through apps downloaded from a store - even though so many are just web wrappers.
Large electronic waste recycling in Melbourne is a shit process. I'm trying to responsibly dispose of a dead 50" TV. There's a mix of government and commercial services with very bad websites that often link to each other and end up in dead-ends. E.g
sustainability.vic.gov.au links out to recyclingnearyou.com.au
Which then tells me to go A1Rubishremovals - which is a skip bin hire service.
Vic Gov needs to do a lot better here.
