The name kbin is derived from sbin in Linux (source is a comment by @ernest). Is the logo at all related to sbin? It kind of looks like a forward slash....

Why YSK: Online platforms, particularly some very prominent offenders, may artificially spike prices before creating “discounts”. This is not new or specific to online retailers. I worked in retail for almost a decade before gettinng out.
On most products that don't have strict pricing guidelines from the manufacturer, prices can very wildly. Normal pricing would be a marked down price. When big sale would come, the tag price would go from the Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) up to Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Those prices are set by the manufacturer. The price printed on tags is MSRP. It is full price and is usually marked up quite a lot. With high end brands, MSRP is usually a lot higher than what MAP is. With brands like The Northface it can be $100 or more.
When a retailer runs a "big sale" they often put everything back up to full MSRP then mark it back down whatever percentage off they are offering.
Sometimes I would wait for a product to go on sale so I could get my employee discount plus sale price. There were many times when a huge sale plus my discount ended up being the same price or more than what the every day price was.
I thought Newpipe stopped working a long time ago. I could never get it to work. Time to give it another try. If it wasn't for Google blocking the site, I would have forgotten about Newpipe :-D
As the question states. I have the skiils and know how to setup a new instsnce and from looking through the documentation its relatively straight forward. Im just wondering would it actually help the fediverse and lemmy as a whole? There seems to already be plenty of instances to choose from. What are your guys thoughts?
@bionicspud, I've been thinking of doing the same thing for the same reasons. How much storage does your instance use? I haven't looked in to how asset caching works yet. It seems like it could easily get out of hand.
Found this post searching kbin.social to see if anyone else has this happening too. It is impossible to submit a meaningful comment without getting logged out.
My first smartphone was an iPhone. Most things were counter intuative. I also had to jailbreak it to do the things I wanted. A lot of it was basic stuff. The one I remember was that I wanted to use certain Bluetooth devices that would only work when jailbroken.
Once I tried Android there was no turning back. I've used Apple devices for work and it is still counter intuative but things like Bluetooth are less restrictive at least. Still you shouldn't have to try to break or hack the system you're on to get basic settings that aren't available by default.

EDIT: A few days ago I bought a HP X34. It’s a 3440x1440 ultrawide with 165Hz refresh rate. Obviously my setup can’t hit constant 165fps in all games, but I’m comfortably getting 100+ in most games, 120+ in Forza Horizon 5 or Doom Eternal. Can’t complain :)...
I don't think many people understand that if they use Lemmy or kbin, they are posting to the fediverse. There are other platforms and will be more to come. Referring to a post on "Lemmy" or "kbin" is like saying you saw a post on your Windows or Mac computer....
Good question. Not ignorant. The one thing we use all the time but never think of as federated is email. Multiple users from different providers can reply all and everyone gets a copy. That is one way to help think about how the fediverse works. People using kbin and Lemmy have replied in this thread. We all see it. we are just using different providers/software to read and reply in the fediverse.
Whether you started with a 2600 and a joystick in your hand, an N64 with a blistered palm or building your first PC in your teens, what is that one video game you've played at some point that to this day sits at the top of your list.
For cheap, Whitin is good. I've had these whitin trail runners and they are wide. For not so cheap, there are Softstar Shoes that have an ultrawhide shoe. A friend of mine has ultrawide feet and wears these.
I wonder if they think it will be enough time to know if they can use him. If not, they will probably postpone again just like they did with season 2 of Loki.
What is the kbin logo? Just a visually appealing logo or something more?

Would there be any benifit to host another instance?

Kbin keeps logging me out, while I'm actively using the site - I go to make a comment or something and it doesn't work; logging back in automatically redirects me to the front page.
This is really annoying. Does anyone else have this problem?

Why are people referring to Lemmy as "beans"?
I assume this is a place to ask about things when you're out of the loop. People kept saying Lemmy is "beans". What is that all about?
