Because the single only way to do communism is how the UdSSR did it, there’s no other way.
And of course it’s only possible to either agree with the whole of a specific ideology, or none of it. There’s no “good parts of communism” or “bad parts of capitalism” it’s only ever all good or all bad.
I got to open my eyes more, because I don’t see anyone praising communism. What I do see quite a lot is people praising the ultra rich that have made their fortune through exploitation of the poor and public subsidies.
What does “praising” mean? Being critical of what we learned in school about the USSR?
What does “communism” mean here? Advocating for the type of social democracy that’s done pretty well in much of Europe?
I mean I know tankies “exist” but I rarely see them. Just because we’re all critical of capitalism doesn’t mean we’re all dumb enough to want to re try what the soviet union did. It’s almost like our kids will die under capitalism so we’re willing to think outside the box for once.
So I am a middle aged man, living with my family in a 140 sqm house with a garden, built in 2019 in one of the richest countried of the world. We go on vacation 2 times a year, eat good, do a lot of freetime activities like amusement parks, eating out, etc. Both my wife and me work on well payed proffessions and are at least in the top quarter of people in our country regarding wealth. And I know for a fact that many people earn less for far more work, because I used to be one of them. Only in my country, one of the richest in the world. I was fortunate, because I was gifted with a pretty good brain and other things that are absolutly not my doing, but there are a lot of people in low paying and minimum wage jobs that work a lot harder than me.
TL;DR: Capitalism is no meritocracy. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. It’s a fucked up system and we need something more fair.

Wait? Console players feel like devs just copy the PC interface? Us PC players always feel like they copy the console interface and just slap a cursor on it. Buttons are huge, excessive amount of tabs, very few things visible at any time, etc. Oh and those “wheels” ugh.

I don’t think anyone seriously thinks you can actually get rid of cars entirely, but rather they’re annoyed that everything is built around the idea that you drive everywhere. This is damaging to the environment, human health, and probably even stifles community and culture.
Have a look in the communities. Reading the community explains the community. Their main problem is that most cities are built and often rebuilt to only work with cars and then people use that to claim that other systems doesn’t work.
It’s more of a “fuck car dependent infrastructure” thing. In America it’s basically impossible to live without a car in most places. We don’t need to live this way and we should have the option to walk, bike, bus, train, etc as well as drive.
Try walking to the grocery store in a suburb and you’ll quickly get sick of walking through big empty parking lots and along roads without sidewalks as cars whip past. I wouldn’t even try biking since drivers will run you off the road. If there even is a bus it’ll run every 2 hours and be 15 minutes late. And there is no train because we tore up the rail system that built this country to make auto company owners even richer
Communities here are largely influenced and based on already existing communities on Reddit. I was subscribed to r/fuckcars there until I dropped reddit completely, but they have a pretty straightforward page explaining their beliefs and opinions about cars and replacing them with various different more efficient transportation methods.
Secondly… Your comment wasn’t hated, so I don’t know where those “angry car haters” come from.
No one actually thinks that you can replace cars entirely, but making more space FOR PEOPLE on the streets and making public transportation more comfortable and more affordable - is only a positive.

Theft is one thing and who knows what the numbers actually are for self checkout. Even with theft and us making a mistake or two, they don’t have to pay cashiers, I’m sure they’re coming out wayyyyy ahead.
I don’t use self-checkouts in retail stores, and I hate that some stores, like Shoppers, will try so hard to direct me to one when I’m in the queue for the cashier. I have put down merch and walked out of stores over this stance, and I no longer visit some stores (like Shoppers).
I’m not entirely against automated purchase systems. A completely touchless system would get a pass from me. I am against retailers forcing their customers to manually scan and check-out their products though, all while treating them as untrustworthy by dictating where they can place their scanned merch, weighing the merch as it’s scanned, and checking the receipts after doing so.
Obviously, none of this addresses the question of whether fully-automated retail spaces are actually good for the working class as a whole.

A lot of community types just simply don’t work without a minimum critical mass of members.
Imagine asking a programming question on a software development community of just 5 people. You end up with 3 people who aren’t active enough to see the question, 1 person sees but doesn’t have an answer and doesn’t respond (classic lurker), and one person sees it and responds that they don’t know the answer. Now imagine a community of 5 thousand people…it’s suddenly much more feasible to even bother asking the question.
Sure, fediverse could exist with just 5 people, but it would be worthless and pointless.
