What are some of the more novel forms of fediverse software?
By novel I mean not emulating an existing popular platform, e.g. Lemmy-Reddit, Mastodon-Twitter, etc.

Since no upvotes are possible, the 'Hot' and 'New' pages of Kbin should show the same content. That's kinda awesome
Browsing by new was great in the early days of the first Kbin expansion, right after the reddit migration. I got to see all sorts of posts from interesting communities. Things you wouldn't normally see browsing under 'Hot'. Eventually, as thread numbers increase, I found myself using 'Hot' almost exclusively because it delivered...

It’s impossible to tell if there is an actual server upgrade, or they have just gone down, displaying the message from last time.
Can KBin not like, freak out at any turn when surfing on it?
I forced myself to go back a little to Reddit recently. Because while I endorse and love the existence of the Fediverse, I can't in good conscience, tolerate the instability of it. Any other time I go somewhere, I'm met with a page that says KBin is working on resolving issues, then I go somewhere else and it's fine....
