There definitely needs to be a set protocol to remove mods like this. If the user did something to be removed from a specific mag, that's one thing, but removing them from every mag you're a mod for is an overreach.
I don't think there can possibly be a justifiable reason he was banned from every one of that mod's magazines, and then for the mod to systematically put a downvote on every single one of the user's posts. Clearly they both did it, but still, not moderator worthy behavior.
Wouldn't this require a genetic component as well? All life on this planet shares a very large portion of the same DNA, with only minute variances between branches in life categories, even bacteria. Oxygen is a huge component of energy production for sure, but it doesn't spontaneously illicit life.
Seeded with genetic material and given a few million years, you would probably be right - but it would require genetic/DNA 'ruleset' I would think.
Thereare several institutes that differ from your opinion on abundance and profitability. There is an estimated millions of tons of helium-3 in the lunar surface at just a few meters down and it's estimated that just 25 tons would suffice to fuel the US power consumption for a year, and 200 ton for global needs.
Regardless of helium-3, establishing the infrastructure will allow for other mining as well. Platinum and other rare earth metals. Whoever does it first is going to make a butt load of money.
I hope so too. I just want to see some space faring progress in my lifetime. I missed the boat and am too dumb to contribute, but I can hope greed can bridge the gap where basic human progress fails to meet expansionist ideals. If it has to begin on the backs of investor money, at least it gets the ball rolling.
I just finished Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky, and the first word to come to mind is a resounding "Eewwwwwwww". Just spiders, all the spiders. sigh It really was a very good book, and the story telling from the spider's perspective was wonderful, but 'ugh' it's hard to stomach some of the visuals they illicit. Definitely a solid recommendation though, and I can't wait to see where the next book takes the story. (Maybe think twice if you have a thing with spiders and an active imagination?)
I also finished Morning Star by Pierce Brown earlier this week. I'm addicted to this story and can't recommend it enough... Although Morning Star ends on a pretty high note and I'm reluctant to move on to the next book because it started at a really low point and can only be downhill from here. I kind of want to hold on to the high point for a while before moving on to "Iron Gold".
Next up is Abaddon's Gate by James Corey, the first two were pretty good. I've seen all of the TV show, so I'm curious how the books differ from The Expanse.
Isn't 'The Currents of Space' the second book of that series (following 'The Stars, Like Dust') ?
I've started the first one several times but never finished it for some reason... I live Asimov, but like Clarke, the books are so small they don't really allow for a lot of plot building. I'm the same way about visual media too. I can't watch movies anymore, they don't allow for long, detailed, plot progression of a TV series.
Is this by Neil Gaiman as well? I've read a bunch of his Sandman comics, which are wonderful, but I think I would appreciate Morpheus even more in a novel!
Oh man, I've listened to Carl Sagan's Cosmos so many times in my life that I'm afraid it would be a Pavlovian response to him narrating an audio book... 😴😴
I had a DM once that magically ensured our Warlock got pregnant after using her 'femanine' wiles' to get what she wanted with an npc. Then when the warlock used her warlock 'ways' to terminate the pregnancy we were forced to be haunted by the 'soul' of the damn thing until we all quit playing his campaign... It was fucked.
The slow gameplay is an issue for me too. Chris has been trying to slow the gameplay down for a while now (probably in preparation for this), and it's only pissing people off more and more.
There also needs to be a better approach to crafting in PoE2. Learning the ins and outs of crafting in PoE is fucking daunting. I'm an adult with responsibilities. Nobody has time for learning that, or time for grinding that much currency...
I did some further testing of federation issues, and have discovered that Kbin (at least Fedia) magazine articles don't federate to remote instances unless they are interacted with on the host instance....
Unfortunately, I think that is a innate function of federation. Mastodon is like that as well, you don't start seeing stuff from remote instances until you/someone on your instance starts interacting with it.

I logged into Kbin today to see 18 notifications where the same guy banned me from all of their magazines for downvoting them....
