The New York Times is suing OpenAI and Microsoft for copyright infringement, claiming the two companies built their AI models by “copying and using millions” of the publication’s articles and now “directly compete” with its content as a result....

Really seemed like this was inevitable - it will be interesting to see if their fair use defense pans out.

I don't expect it will, and I'm worried of the impact of that precedent on the legitimate fair use circuit...

Protip: Many cars use slow charging USB 2.0 for wired Android Auto - if you use this, you cab instead plug your phone into a fast charging outlet instead

Midnitte,

Depending on your usage, wired (due to being slow charging, typically) can actually drain the battery faster than it charges.

But since you're using it tirelessly, you can use a fast charger via your 9v outlet (or other fast charging USB).

It sucks it uses so much power, but you're probably better off if you need to charge your phone anyway

Really been enjoying Against the Storm - though I play mostly under 1x speed so I spend so long per level lol - slowly adjusting to speeding up...

Pretty sure it actually predates Apple's version too...

Yes please!

The whole buffer/quick record that's been added to video card drivers have been a boon for capturing those blimo and you'll miss it episodes of hilarity.

This is exactly why restaurants shouldn't use QR codes as menus, they're attack vectors - anyone can just come in and slap on their own QR sticker.

I just use the ping integration of Home Assistant, simple for me since I've already got HA running.

Tbf you weren't required to watch, just had to follow the link in the article to the gleam page.

I'm sure the robots will enjoy their new OLED though.

That functionality only works with Google Keep. Google killed off integration with third party apps early this year.

I've just sworn off using it and using the app we were already using manually. Sort of hoping the year of voice will eventually produce a viable replacement because I'm sick of Google killing shit off and forcing you to use their app. "Be different, not the same" 🙄

Hopefully HIPPA will be enough to actually force some punishment to the company.

Leaking half of the US populations' SSNs wasn't enough

Still finishing Control, as well as Kaiju Wars, which has helped scratch that Advance Wars itch while also being new

I sort of wish God existed so they could tell this woman she's stupid af.

I'd imagine this article is more of statement against the S23 Ultra, than a humble brag. At this point, even if you are able to afford it, why upgrade yearly?

Phones aren't getting drastic upgrades with each physical release - most exciting upgrades are typically software based.

Tbf, it's all about usage and charhing habits. My S22 lasts my work day, but at around ~30%, but I also only charge it to 85%.

If I didn't charge it on the drive home, it'd probably die during the day.

foss physical button recommendations

Hi. I’m new to HA, and am looking for physical button recommendations. I got tasmota smart plugs, and those just needed HA’s mqtt add-on and tasmota integration. They work like a charm. Now I want to get a physical button (wired or battery) that I can use to toggle the smart switches. I also would like to do this in the most...

If you want to be FOSS, how about the haptic input button? You'll have to build it yourself though...

Midnitte,
Midnitte avatar

Not yet - it has an API but any bridge hasn't been built. (To my knowledge)

Amazing how enshitification has continued to march on.

Very relatedly, it's also contained in an anecdote Bertrand Russell reportedly experienced.

Banana Pi BPI-M7 - More Reasons to Avoid the Raspberry Pi (www.cnx-software.com)

Tbf, the Steam Deck is also significantly more expensive.

The W3 is $162

Control is a fantastic game - definitely recommend a completion run for all the lore.

Listened to this sing for years before actually understanding the lyrics lol - considering I was an atheist for even longer, I wonder if my subconscious knew and just didn't tell me 🤷🏻‍♂️

They're also apparently adding markdown which is neat, but considering all the recent Google news of them trying to lock down the web, I'd rather they focus on adding an RCS API so other apps can exist...
