They all want their IPO so they can cash out.

Reddit Threatens to Remove Moderators From Subreddits Continuing Apollo-Related Blackouts (www.macrumors.com)

As some subreddits continue blackouts to protest Reddit's plans to charge high prices for its API, Reddit has informed the moderators of those subreddits that it has plans to replace resistant moderation teams to keep spaces "open and accessible to users."

Honestly entirely predictable. Should really be a wake up call to moderators and communities that haven't gone dark that Reddit, Inc is not trustworthy (just like how spez has been willing to edit posts).

Good luck to Reddit trying to moderate 5000 new communities and not devolve into Twitter 2.

Much of this is over my head, but nice to see further improvements

I wouldn't say Christie has tipped his toes in the anti-trump waters, I would say he's decided that he can jump in the water while everyone else isn't allowed on the beach..

He's decided that there's a political path for him to be the antiTrump in the room. His entire campaign is antitrump (and hoping you ignore Christopher Wrey hiding his cell phone during an investigation).

I've told the dev I'm willing to pay double.

Seems like he's leaning into a subscription model based on posts prior to the blackout...

Plus I don't really see a point of going back just till the end of the month and then RIF is kill. :(

This right here. I'll take my chances with a product where the developers actually care, not just some techbro trying to get his cashout.

The schadenfreude will be crystalline once the prosecutor uses these words in court.

Also saw the Feditips post and am definitely steering clear of lemmy.

Blacking out themselves is certainly a bold strategy. /s

In all seriousness, I imagine this is a test to quantify how many people will actually leave?

For iOS users looking for an app, there is a quick and easy solution

I apologize if this has already been covered, but I’ve seen a lot of people talking about a need for a kbin app. While I agree that a native app would be nice to have eventually, I figured that quite a few people probably aren’t aware of how web apps work. I don’t use Android, so I have no idea if there is an equivalent...

Can always follow the subs from there anywhere, anyway

If you install it as a webapp, it doesn't do that.

Seems like a natural pivot.

None of the third party apps are going to pay Reddit's extortionate prices, they might as well change their backend to the fediverse..
