What perfectly normal thing can't you be around anymore due to something you experienced?

Mine is a pretty tame example: I never minded the smell of garlic was fine around it… but I took a job for DHL and they had these large tubs of garlic for horses that had to go out to people. There were about 10 of them coming down the belt....

Smathy,

Childbirth.

I can't watch scenes in movies, tv, mentions in books/papers, friends talking about it etc. I can't do it.

My daughter's birth in 2020 was all kinds of traumatic and I avoid the topic at all costs.

Smathy,

I have definitely told guys at the end of a date that I "want to see them again" while having no intention of seeing them again. It's a safety thing. IME guys can Jekyll and Hyde pretty hard when being rejected.

I know it can hurt feelings, but when it comes down to it, my safety > your feelings

Smathy,

Yes, agreed. She should have at least texted afterwards.

Smathy,

After being threatened, stalked, followed and sexually assaulted by men I've rejected in person, I'm totally okay with being mean if it lets me avoid all that.

Smathy,

I was in the popularclub sub, the only interesting thing about it was when newbies posted their story about how they got there - there was sometimes backstory/ follow ups/ chat about what happens when you "go viral"

Otherwise it was mostly cat pics and random boast posts

Smathy,

That looks great! Did you make the pattern yourself?
