I had a student lose their life like this, and I’m sure if the person wasn’t driving such a big vehicle, they would have seen the student in time to stop.

Yeah, my student is forever 8 and a shortie for their age. They were crossing in a crosswalk and the driver was turning right. It’s not the same.

What are your thoughts on restricting children’s access to pornography online?

There are a lot of GOP-controller legislatures in the USA pushing through so-called “child protection” laws, but there’s a toll in the form of impacting people’s rights and data privacy. Most of these bills involve requiring adults to upload a copy of their photo ID.

I attended my first pride wearing a pink/purple/blue tutu. No one questioned me. No one said anything except that they liked my tutu and shirt (pride in rainbow, both self made because stores didn’t sell “pride merch” at the time :p). Everyone was welcoming, everyone was nice, and it was fun to be “out” outside the house.

You don’t have to be out to everyone to be out at pride, and it’s a good experience to feel that acceptance, especially if you don’t already have it outside your romantic circle. If it still feels strange, be subtle, but be open to saying “I’m bi, this is my husband, unfortunately my gf couldn’t come.” Or whatever version of that feels good to you, but if your pride is anything like my first one, you will leave feeling seen and validated.

What social taboos that exist today do you think will not be around in 100 years?

I was reading a book on social life of the upper-middle class and new rich of the American 1920s and realized so many things we now do proudly were considered socially taboo back then. This was especially the case for clothing, makeup, women in certain public spaces, etc. What do you think will be different in the 2120s? Or...

Okay, please don’t attack me if this is wrong to say, but I wonder sometimes if someone of the people questioning their gender just want to wear / like the things the opposite gender wears / likes without being attacked for it. Like if we just un-gender all the things, some people wouldn’t feel “trans” because they can outwardly represent themselves however they want without people judging them. (note: I am in no way trying to illegitimize anyone’s trans-ness).

And I think what @sudo wants is decriminalization - that a person who gets arrested for using meth is treated for their addiction rather than go to jail.

What should I do when I'm motivated to do things for others but never for myself even though my life is a mess because of it?

I’ve never thought about it until now, the only times when I ever felt fulfilled is when I’m doing something for others and helping them achieve their goals. I myself have goals and dreams of my own but I’ve never feel motivated to work towards them for myself, it just feels like a boring chore....

This. I appreciate people saying “you have to be selfish / take care of yourself” but when you have depression, focusing on your self-improvements feels overwhelming or difficult. I have been there - helping friends was easy, but doing things for myself (like cleaning my room, getting rid of junk, or organizing my files) was hard-to-impossible. When I got on SSRIs, that helped me a lot. I ended up switching to microdosing because the SSRIs were interfering with other parts of my life, but SSRIs got me there.

If you can’t get to a mental health provider, sometimes you can get friends to help you, like you have helped them, but this won’t always work and isn’t a long-term solution.

😭 yeah… It’s such pain to have to fight someone who’s fighting dirty. You either have to figure out how to beat them anyway, or get dirty yourself, and dems weren’t ready to get dirty yet.

After making a comment like you did (rather proving the previous commenter’s point), I would say yes. But are you happy? What kind of person do you want to be - one who reacts because you care too much about a supposed flaw, or one who defies the stereotype and doesn’t even recognize a “short man syndrome” comment because it’s so far from your reality?
