I honestly think reddit will be perfectly fine. Unfortunately...
There's a type of pervasive apathy that's skyrocketed over the last 6-8 years throughout the internet and society. There's just too much to care about. The fact is it's easier to complain about your CEO or Admins than it is to find or build an alternate source just re-enforces the apathetic response to injustices.
It doesn't effect me, I don't agree but I'm not buying a sub, I'm only active on small communities, etc. It's easier to find excuses than to try to move away from a behemoth of content.
I think 95%+ of users will probably fall into this group. I know I did for years!
I personally will check reddit for what's going on in the world once or twice a week and use it for information but my decade+ of activity was over the day spez lied about Apollo.
I'll probably look back into using RSS too. Reddit really has gotten toxic and it's just going to continue getting worse. I'm out for my own mental health and I hope others are too.
This game cost me almost as much time as reddit. Now that I have more time in my life maybe it's time for a few more runs... I can't recommend it enough. It does start out slow though.
I'm in the same boat. My account is coming up on 12 in a month or two. I might pop in to communities here and there for info but my days off activity are 100% gone.
I already purged all my history. Even if they rolled everything back what's the point? I'd rather just hang out here with smaller groups of nicer people.
I deleted my 12 year old account history after the "AMA" with Spez and will be fully deleting my account on the 30th. That being said I clicked back on reddit today and browsed a bit of what was up and after spending the last few days on kbin and beehaw I don't think I can go back.
The amount of toxicity that I was putting up with on reddit was astounding. I can't believe I didn't notice it was so bad, even on the smaller subs I was active in. I always have referred to reddit as a cesspit with islands of good content, but I think the landscape changed while I wasn't paying attention.
I do hope the protest works and 3rd party devs can continue their wonderful apps, but reddit is kind of over for me regardless. The fediverse somehow feels like the early internet, kinda like going home.
Been using this on my iPad pro for several months. I love the flexibility for extensions. It's not perfect but I enjoy the trade offs even if it does randomly slowdown sometimes.
Man I hate that our existence is becoming increasingly political. It's so incredibly messed up that a bunch of people see no issue dehumanizing others in our society.
Both of these suggestions rock! Definitely some of the best games in the genre period.
I'm currently replaying SoTN for the 6th time right now. I can't recommended it enough.
I will saying playing it on a handheld like the Rg35xx or the RP3+ is made drastically better by applying the Qhack mod. It fixes the resolution scaling for 4:3 during the main gameplay giving you substantially more screen size.
It unfortunately does open a passage earlier than intended, but I can't go back to the original on my pocket. It's easy enough to ignore until you'd normally open it.
