Boosts used to be in the place of upvotes, now they are separate. For example, upvoting on Kbin acts as favoriting/liking on Mastodon, and boosting on Kbin acts as boosting on Mastodon.
Then maybe an example with Twitter? Not sure how to explain it without using an example. Upvoting is like liking a tweet, boosting is like retweeting a tweet. I don't know how boosts are displayed on Kbin though
No, blocking every possible instance is impossible. Even if they blocked the top 100 instances, there are still thousands of other that you can access, and then use them to access content from the top 100 that got blocked.
Kind of, any type of interaction between instances (even for example, if someone on instance A boosts a post by someone on instance B, and someone on instance C follows the person on instance A (or instance A is already federated with). Then boom, both instances now federate with each other)
Yes they are all separate, different entities, if you had a "news" community on lemmy.ml and "news" magazine on kbin.social, they would both act separately as @.news@lemmy.ml and @.news@kbin.social
One very good source for Kbin user data, should be updated every six hours. This crawler may also need to find some of the many new ones being set up, but this is a good start. Will post others.
Oh sorry, forgot you are using a different extension. That's how it works on Stylus, I am not sure how it works on Cascadea since I don't use Safari or own a Mac.
Yes, you can add (preferably to a new userstyle to not break updates, you can create them by clicking "Write style for: kbin.social/this URL" in the extension popup) ".kbin-container { max-width: none; }" to stretch everything.
I started using mastodon when musk bought twitter and kbin with all the reddit API shitshow. I like the idea of the fediverse but how does it have longevity?
I would say sponsorships and on-website advertistments are very different from each other. Sponsorships are agreed on by both sides and made together, website advertisements are just random banners that show up everywhere.
Upvote/Boost difference?
Can someone explain the difference between the upvote and the boost here on kbin?...
Sub system here
As i understand there are also "subreddits" here, how do they work?

OC You can now get Kbin-it, my Reddit-like theme for kbin! (userstyles.world)
It doesn't have much to offer, the code is a mess, but I know some people would really appreciate it!...
Realistically how does the fediverse make money and remain sustainable? only donations?
