Currently playing #Nier: Replicant, #FinalFantasy IV, and #ShadowComplex. Enjoying Nier: Replicant so far. FFIV was the FF game of my childhood but never got around to finishing it so here we go. And Shadow Complex is a fun metroidvania.
Rumors are tearing this place apart out here about secret deals with #Meta. The latest is that Meta has held #NDA meetings with some of you and they will federate with large instances under contracts providing financial support (1) (2).

@ophiocephalic The gossip does need to stop it is childish. The only way to be concerned is via gossip? Im sorry but that is not true. The gossip has also led others including myself to receive death threats. Communities will survive, it won't be due to Meta directly if they don't. It will be due to fundamental differences.
@Chimaera This is a leak from Meta. We have known since march Meta was working on a decentralised Twitter competitor that is built on AcftivityPub. 99% of the info being reported on are leaks from content creators testing the app and from internal employees. That post is from a leaked internal meeting.
@ophiocephalic They are not, they did not start rumours. Users did by throwing a damn tantrum based on rumours. I love how you ignored the comments about death threats. It's people like you that are part of the problem. Death threats are worse than some people potentially meeting with Meta
The instance seems to be mostly right wing trolls. I know defederating is unpopular but I don't think much is to be lost in this case and it can save the mods some headaches....
Wtf, what liberties and freedoms does it take from anyone? No one has the right to anyone’s attention nor any instance. They aren’t being blocked from using the software.

So, there are people across the Fediverse that are opposed to ads and will block an instance that have them, I understand but believe this is ridiculous. As running a server costs money and donations are not enough. I believe as long as they are not intrusive ads then it should be fine.
So in the spirit of this community and not just to focus on the Reddit... issues... I thought it might be nice to get a topical conversation going in here....
I am building a project within the Fediverse. I believe in the fediverse but the gatekeeping and HOA behaviour gets tiring. So, I’m building a project that is open to all kinds of users. Those that want a more comprehensive user experience similar to what they got with big social without all of the ick and those that largely like things they way they are but want a better UI.
