Totally random thought...

I haven't had pineapple upside down cake in a really long time. Is that a dessert that's been forgotten about?

claralistensprechen3rd,

@emmreef Not forgotten but has to be home-made. People who don't get that since almost forever is because they can't pick one up at any bakery.

Social media disappointments:

  1. Journalists are still actively participating at exTwitter, thereby actively supporting Musk, who is helping extremists bring down democracy and, by extension, a free press.

  2. Reddit got away with stomping its volunteer moderators and users, and its execs are cashing in on an IPO that in a more just world would have flopped.

  3. Writers I respect decided to stick with Substack despite arrogant, extremist-friendly investors and leadership.

claralistensprechen3rd,

@KevinMarks @dangillmor Kevin, that has been tried by Huffington Post and MSNBC (Newsvine) until it got slammed with agenda shitposters. A concerted, targeted effort by NRA shitposters caused Michael Moore to take his discussion board off the web. Be careful what you wish for.

claralistensprechen3rd,

@MikeImBack Country has long been ridiculed as "shit-kicker music" but it's got Gaelic heritage, and you can see here that it's a proud one. Now, if you saw the whole video through to the end, you'll see some good ole American jitterbug thrown in. And say--didn't George Michaels sing a song with a background of "jitterbug" in it...?

I know some of you totally hate all . I grew up with mostly old timey & some contemporary country music because my Mom enjoyed that & pop music. Dad was more of a blues & rock person. Mom discovered Alan Jackson in early 90s. She loved getting Dad, me & my brothers to dance & sing along to Itty Bitty, at our past annual BBQ Summer backyard bash, before we started yard games fun.
I miss dancing with my Dad - he only danced with Mom & me - his whole life.

@msquebanh I dunno, Kenny Rogers was a rocker and all he did was just mellow out, IMHO

claralistensprechen3rd,

@msquebanh Maybe that's the Country that Rogers went when he sang Islands In The Stream with Dolly Parton, but truth is he didn't have much of a twang. Alan Jackson, on the other hand...well...

Another unique(?) trope in land is this:

When a character is about to reveal something important, like their true identity, they will be interrupted with either:

  1. An emergency.
  2. They're summoned by someone higher.

^_^;;

You eventually get used to it, and expect it is going to happen.

Putin must stopped.

The arrival of European forces in would change KGB-Putin calculations. His genocide of Ukrainians must be stopped. A European-led response would subvert Russian that NATO countries’ intervention in is merely an American ploy to undermine Russia.

Ukraine is doing the best it can, but it needs help - help that European countries are able and increasingly willing to provide. Rather than force Russian escalation, a European troop presence would be more likely to prevent the conflict from spreading and prevent further damage to Ukraine’s economy and infrastructure. European leaders do not need to follow the dictates of an increasingly unreliable United States about how the battle in Ukraine should be waged; they can and should decide for themselves how best to ensure the continent’s freedom & security. must do what it takes to safeguard its own future, and that starts with making sure Ukraine wins this war.

claralistensprechen3rd,

@skykiss @RaySF History will show that we're already in WWIII and this is just at the beginning. But to be absolutely clear: nations that send in troops as a nation are NOT sending in troops as NATO.

If screaming “apartheid” has an impact in delegitimising the very basis of Israel’s existence, accusing it of genocide is a still more powerful weapon. So it has, likewise, been repeated until it has now become accepted as fact – such that it can be asserted without contradiction.

Neither apartheid nor genocide have been proven, but as we've seen with far too many things like especially with climate science denial repeating a lie over and over can make people believe anything sadly.

claralistensprechen3rd,

@emmaaum @GreenFire The term "anti-semitic" has been hijacked to mean something it wasn't supposed to mean. It is supposed to mean anyone biased against people who are Semitic but the hijackers don't want to recognize that the people indigenous to the Levant, including Palestinians, are Semitic while the people who did the hijacking are Europeans.
