Since the minimum and recommended specs for Starfield have come out, I’ve been budgeting to do a big upgrade on my PC with an AMD 6800 xt and a fancy new 1 TB SSD (which is the first game I’ve ever seen that requires an SSD) just so I can run the game in all it’s space epicness....
I really do like KBin and Lemmy and the fediverse on the whole, but development is still young and the userbase still growing. KBin is still basically early access, and Lemmy is buggy. I spent alot of time in reddit and I'm feeling the pain of trying to ween myself from it. Just wanted to here community perspectives and see how...
Absolutely this. It got very homogenized. I joined reddit for the variety of people and their ability to understand topics I'd like to understand better. Then it all turned to bots and reposts. Then I would unsub from one subreddit and migrate to the new sub that was similar to the sub I just abandoned until the new sub became infested with bots and reposts, then rinse and repeat.
I'm also going to have trouble avoiding my city's local subreddit. It's definitely a hub for everything going on here, and I've made some real life friends on there who I plan on keeping up with.
Are you using something like IFTTT for that? I'd like to compartmentalize the local subreddits so I can stay up to date on news and events nearby, but I want to avoid the distraction that is reddit in general.
I think it's largely more than an API change. It felt miserable before Spez made his choice. This most recent choice was the end of a long line of bad choices Spez made. And I absolutely don't care to see the trainwreck of that site after it's IPO.
Yeah, I seriously hope Spez's $10 million worth of greed compounds into losses greater than what he could have made on API calls if RiF and Apollo had bent the knee.
Shredding up my Reddit comments (editing them to say fuck spez, linking to Lemmy and Kbin, not deleting but I don't care if they do end up deleted) and I got this....
It's not the kids, not the lurkers, not the mods... y'all just nice people. Lemmy's got a good vibe going... or at least enough windows that we can close if the vibe gets shit.
The protests get even more creative. PoliticalHumor mods have set it so that if you subscribe to the community you can now do moderator actions through comments....
Reddit suspended my 13 yo account shortly before they pulled this charade because I lashed out at someone who doxxed me and threatened my family on my city's local subreddit but let that idiot stay.
I'm still trying to figure out how to scrub all of the content from that account.
EDIT: GO DM MODS OF YOUR FAVORITE SUBREDDITS AND POLITELY ASK ABOUT MIGRATION!: something as simple as "Hey, I love this community but I no longer use reddit, will you guys be making a community on Kbin or other alternatives? Let me know please, thanks." will work!! We need more voices encouraging migration!...
Lemmy.world is down because of a DDOS attack (lemmy-world.statuspage.io)

What game encouraged you to make your new PC, or upgrade?

Is there any one else who feels like their life has been disrupted by this whole debacle with Reddit.

[might not really be Reddit] Reddit threatens you for using Power Delete Suite and other tools now

Lemmy is so good right now for no particular reason

My little sub of 13, no rules and like 5 posts has been threatened.

Reddit activated a word filter that whenever you say "fuck spez", your comment won't show up for anyone else. I just tested it on ModCoord. they're also deleting spez memes from the subs they nuked lol
r/ModCoord: The admins in charge of demodded subreddits are mass-removing images of Huffman previously shared on them...
Deleted my 12 year old, 43334 Karma, reddit account
I feel free !...
📢Entire mod team on r/mildlyinteresting (and more subs) removed and locked out of their accounts after changing their rules upon community's request. (They're also switching subs BACK to SFW)
