@slimerancher D4 is extremely buggy but feels so good to play. Really enjoying that one. FFXVI is gorgeous but I haven't gotten far yet. Cassette Beasts is super cute and has a LOT of depth to it. Overall very happy with all three of them and would recommend to anyone who likes these genres of games.
I have been using Outlook for the longest time and have tried FairEmail a couple of times and simply deleted it. Tried sticking through it for about a month and I’ll be sticking with it for a good long time now :)
on desktop I use eM Client. On Android I was using just plain GMail but I saw people in this comment section using other stuff so I checked it out and swapped to FairEmail.
edit: FairEmail is fantastic and I've upgraded to pro. Definitely recommend this one for mobile users with multiple email accounts.
Used to use Thunderbird but I wanted something that just looked like it was from this century. I like how eM Client works and its features and it looks nice. I don't like that I am limited to 2 email accounts though. I'd love something like it that is FOSS and allows more email addresses.
Today, a bunch of new instances appeared in the top of the user count list. It appears that these instances are all being bombarded by bot sign-ups....
I'm an admin of https://sffa.community. (posting from my kbin since when I posted from my admin account it didn't show up here).
We did notice the bot influx. We had email verification on so none got past that stage. We have since turned on CAPTCHA and have purged the bots from our database.
We only opened officially a couple weeks ago so we're still working on organic content. We'd love to be federated again. Feel free to reach out if you need me to prove my admin-ship.
Finished book 4 of Murderbot Diaries and eagerly moved on to book 5, and am about 44% done with that. I expect I'll be reading book 6 by tomorrow at some point. They're by Martha Wells and they're sci-fi, but very light fun reads. She tells very tight stories with excellent characters and pacing.
After wrapping up book 6 of Murderbot Diaries I started in on A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers. I've heard the wayarers series was good, have access to the first book so I am checking it out. So far it's okay.
Oh well that's unfortunate. I like series because I like to stick to characters on long journeys, getting to know them and care for them. Only the first book is available on Kindle Unlimited so I guess I just won't bother reading past book 1.
(The one exception to this so far is Malazan, which has so many characters and so many times those bounce around from being in a books to disappearing for 3 books, only to resurface again later. Malazan is fantastic though, and totally worth it. Erikson managed to make me care deeply about characters that we only saw for half a book. It's ridiculous.)
Yeah Murderbot isn't heavy Sci-Fi, they're more interesting stories told in a futuristic setting. I finished the 6th one last night and can't wait for the 7th to come out later this year. I am hooked.
They're short but they're paced extremely well. I have never noticed how short they are while actually reading because it's a full and engaging story. I am in love with Murderbot and it's only gotten better as the books go on.

This is the most polished app I’ve seen yet for Lemmy. It has many features that’s just simply missing on many other Lemmy apps and has a nice interface. It’s also not that buggy from my experience, and doesn’t really crash at all. I might actually be able to ditch my PC to browse Lemmy and moderate my communities now!...
How are you moderating communities with the app? I have zero moderation tools available when I am logged in and I am an admin on the instance.
Also I have a second account on the same instance but when I log into that one all my upvotes and subscriptions are identical to my main account. I can't do anything separately.
I love this app, the UI is nice to me and it's quick and easy to use. But I need mod tools and for accounts to actually be separate.
According to my stats on Storygraph, my goal was 25 books for the year and I'm sitting at 38 books read. I shouldn't have been so conservative with my goal I think.
Favorite? Probably "The Book that Wouldn't Burn" by Mark Lawrence. The worldbuilding and character work are just phenomenal. Another best book is The Crippled God (started Malazan last fall and finished it early this year).
Least favorite? Babel. I don't even count it as read since I couldn't get beyond chapter 4. I loved Poppy War and my book club was reading Babel but it was just so flat. One-dimensional characters and too preachy and on-the-nose. I don't mind messaging in books but this wasn't even nuanced or natural.
New Release? I backed Sanderson's Kickstarter, so I am waiting for my physical copy of Yumi and the Nightmare Painter so I can read that in print. I read the other 2 secret Projects in ebook form but this one I want the new book smell experience.
Anybody else excited for Super Mario Bros. Wonder? I think the animations look really slick and it’s awesome to see 2d mario that doesn’t look and play like a game that came out for the Nintendo DS in 2006.
I'm excited for it, cause 2D Mario is something I grew up with on the NES and SNES. I love the art style they went with or this one, it's so clean, but it looks like it will play like the older games that were 2D. I don't know if I will get it on release but it's definitely on my to be played list.
