I'm always impressed by a music video that can "yes, and" the song it was made for - one that feels like it was created as an extension or an exploration of the song, rather than an expression of the vibes (though, don't get me wrong, I'm all about the vibes too). I love that this video tells a clear story and puts a pretty fun twist on the lyrics while it does.
Bonus: The actors seem like they were having a blast during filming.
I’m just starting Brandon Sanderson’s The Frugal Wizard's Handbook for Surviving Medieval England. Not far enough in to speak on how I like this book specifically, but Sanderson is one of my favorite authors, so I anticipate that it will be a good time.
The hardcovers for the larger Secret Project kickstarter collection of which this book is a part have also been absolutely gorgeous so far, for those here who, like me, are as excited about the design of a book as they are about reading it. There are so many beautiful full-page illustration inserts and little flourishes. The attention to detail is just lovely.
Heartstopper is my number one. It has this gentle, joyous undercurrent to every element of itself that just checks all my boxes. The soundscape is really quite soothing as well.
Schitt’s Creek is a close second. Don’t be put off by the title as I was - it’s hilarious and takes a lot of care with its characters and storytelling. It’s not an explicitly queer show, but I’m including it here anyway because it centers a pansexual man as one of its core characters and does a fantastic job with his portrayal and storylines.
Think of the first music video that comes to mind. What is it?
I'll start: November Rain
What are you reading this week? [6/18/23]
What book is currently on your nightstand? How do you like it? Would you recommend it to others?
What are your queer comfort shows/films?
To think about it, I don't have any. We all need some comfort, so please share!
