To be more specific, my parents raised my siblings and me to “respect” them, saying "yes sir, and “no ma’am” to everything they said. Spankings, all of that. I disagree that carrying a child to term is low effort. It absolutely wrecks a woman's body. Really what you should respond with is, "I didn't ask to be here. I didn't consent to being born."
Honestly, check out some of the smaller games as well. Botw and Totk and other Nintendo-based games are amazing, but I've found a lot of indie games fun (e.g., Cult of the Lamb, Hollow Knight, Oxenfree, Spiritfarer, Gris, etc.). The smaller games also get deals the most.
I thought Christianity is like that because it was based on Judaism, and Judaism is like that because the Hebrews kept getting killed. Hard to keep a people if they don't reproduce and you are constantly enslaved or at war.
I know this is going to sound like some clickbait bullshit title, but I’m genuinely curious, asking in good faith. By that thinking Bill Gates has done nothing but harm, yet he has done leaps and bounds for health research. They're one of the few reasons malaria is even getting research money. He's probably a narcissistic ass, and I'm sure he's partially supporting the foundation for taxes/clout, but he's actually saved the lives of people. If they want to spend their millions and billions on helping people for clout, then go for it. It's better than whatever the fuck Musk is doing.
None of this is ever going to change until regular people start voting for their own betterment, at least in America. There are more of us than them, but half of us are trapped in the idea that we're going to be millionaires someday. Or apathy.
This is basically me, although I started a few years ago. I always plan for 12 a year but usually go over. I do use my phone though. I check out books from the library using Libby. I've found having a book on my phone gives me an excuse not to browse social media before bed. I'm hoping to get into Discworld soon, but I find it a bit daunting.
Cyberpunk 2077 faced a tough reception at launch, but with the Phantom Liberty DLC nearing launch, one CDPR dev feels the RPG was better than history records....
To be fair to No Man's Sky, the devs realized their mistakes and have actively made the game better. They have consistently put out free updates that have made the game 100% better than how it started and continue creating new questlines to follow (most recent came out this month and is a four part series throughout the year). All of this for free, despite the game technically being old now. They even have VR capabilities. As a company, I appreciate that they've owned up that. CDPR, instead, are making a DLC, which is their right but definitely a different mindset concerning their customers' experience.
The House in the Cerulean Sea was written as a way to okay the taking of Native American children from their parents, so you didn't miss out on liking it.
I hate-read it for some reason and couldn't get over how Hallmark sanguine everything was and how much of a bumbling idiot the mc was. Plus, he was gay and I resented his inclusion into queer lit.

I wish there was a way for all users to grab their data back and agree to sell it back to reddit if they want to profit from it. They truly do not understand that people are mad because they are trying to profit off of free labor.
I don't think anyone truly believes the site is ending from our actions. It is more to trash the place on the way out. Reddit will make a clean sweep and everything will go back to their perception of normal, except a whole lot of active users will have left. It will sustain itself on bot reposts for a while, but in a couple of years the place will be boring and lack the humanity that made it great. People will wander off and end up where the humanity is, which might be the fediverse but maybe not. Everything is currently up in the air, but the shift has started. It's like how everyone used Facebook until they didn't. Sure, some people still use it, but a lot of people moved elsewhere.
This is absolutely false information. Third party business associates are considered covered entities under the Privacy Rule. The hospital signs a contract with a collection agency and thus that business can now access your health information as an institute of the hospital. You don't need to sign away your rights if it is considered an essential activity of the hospital, which billing and payments are. Also, it's HIPAA.
And you aren't being treated anywhere without signing a privacy HIPAA notice.
No, no one care force you, but it is a requirement for treatment. You cannot have continuity of care without signing a HIPAA privacy notice, which you absolutely will if you are seeking treatment voluntarily. TPAs do not require a signature from you because billing is an integral part of healthcare administration and, thus, their services falls under covered entity by way of the health system you are using. It is abundantly clear you don't know what you are talking about. You cannot even write HIPAA correctly. Do you even know what it stands for or why it exists?
Personally, I want nothing to do with them and I'm not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I moved to the Fediverse to get away from all these corpos.
I don't believe at all that I have any privacy on the internet. As someone in the US, I pretty much assumed I lost that when Bush signed the Patriot Act. My dislike of Meta joining has nothing to do with privacy and everything to do with their love of destroying good things for the sake of profit. I have no desire for yet another thing to become a corporate bullshit farm. This is honestly my last resort. If the fediverse is dismantled for profit, I'll just stop any type of social media whatsoever. It's not worth it to me.
I think charging to use the API is fine, but it was definitely overpriced to the point that it was obvious they wanted to nuke TPAs. They need all that sweet user data to sell to others, and they can't get to that with TPAs.
I have a beehaw account. I've only experienced one user who's a bit too intense about their thoughts. Everyone else has just been chill. The admin aren't defederating from lemmy.ml, the other big instance, and have no plans to do so. They really were just overwhelmed by the two feds they blocked because of trollish users. It's not as intense as you make it sound.
Those with parents who hold opposite political views than you, how do you go about disagreeing?
