I've been ill the past few weeks & stressed as a result, & it's properly screwed with my ability to daydream & write to the extent that yesterday I had been fully convinced I had lost writing as an interest (the hyperfixations giveth & the hyperfixations taketh away 😭). It really made me sad, especially as I was nearing the end of a long-fic before I became ill & I really want to finish it.
Today I realised I had started randomly composing a nice little scene in my head. Not for the next chapter but for a few chapters down the line. Never been so happy for a random daydream to suddenly appear. 😍
@lexr86 I happy to hear you haven't lost interest in writing! Sometimes illness just does that. I have also been really sick and it has also messed with my creative endeavours. I hope you get better and the stress goes away! The writing will be there~
I came across a list of recommendations for good ND representation in fanfic & one of them was this fic centred on autistic Julian Bashir in Star Trek DS9 & oh my, it's very good. I had sympathetic stress when reading the chapter about the surprise party. 😭
Thinking that I wouldn't mind writing a trashy Christmas romance this year but acknowledging that I won't have time for it, only to find that I wrote 80% of one last year that I have a cute little idea for the ending of now. 🥳
Woo! A productive weekend that means I have multiple chapters lined up to post while I'm traveling over the coming weeks. 🥳 For once, not being able to write in the regular order may have worked out for me as I just had to sort out one link in the chain in order to expand my buffer.
It has also made me realise that I probably only have half a dozen chapters left to write for this story before I'm done. So double-woo!, I guess! Or not, if my inspiration abandons me after that.
That feeling when you're wondering if anyone's even reading your longfic anymore & maybe you killed it by not just sticking to the fluffy/smutty stuff you're apparently good (or at least alright) at, & then you get TWO comments from regular readers within a couple of hours of dropping the latest chapter & your cliffhangers are giving people anxiety! 😍
@lexr86 Writing gen stuff definitely feels like that sometimes. You start to worry that you're not appealing to anyone because there's no ships and no smut. Glad you're getting positive feedback, though!
Has anyone ever heard of stars library? A writer I followed a while ago said they'd moved their works there after fictionpad went offline, but this is the first I'd ever heard of it.
@lexr86 Never heard of it before, so I looked it up. I guess it must have started as a Twilight focused place for fanfiction, because there are 6K+ stories and 4.6k of them are Twilight.
Ugh, today is one of those days where I'm kicking myself for starting to post this bloody longfic before I'd finished it. I've a single chapter in my buffer & have just scrapped 3 chapters of utter drivel after that & it's not like I'm keeping a consistent posting schedule or anything but I feel like I'm missing a deadline already.
Why, oh why, when I check my Bookmarks, is there nothing updated in the past 24 hours? Yes, I know I've a Read Later list as long as my arm... That's not the point! My brain wants comfy reading that it's already invested in, not a new thing to figure out. 😩
