It's not how much. It's how much more. They expect and require infinite growth.

Visualizing the mysterious dance: Quantum entanglement of photons captured in real-time (phys.org)

Researchers at the University of Ottawa, in collaboration with Danilo Zia and Fabio Sciarrino from the Sapienza University of Rome, recently demonstrated a novel technique that allows the visualization of the wave function of two entangled photons, the elementary particles that constitute light, in real-time.

Loved the vibe of the show. Pleasantly surprised to see the next season coming out soon.

Looking for a good anime for me and my gf to watch

So I got her watching a few animes in the past year, our first was beastars, she liked it, then full metal, also one she liked, I showed her some space dandy but she wasn’t totally interested, and it’s been tough to find one that really hooked her. Then I found it, one day of just “eh whatever I’ll put this on” we...

Lemme guess, someone with vested interests in monopolizing what should be public resources

How Exactly Did Oppenheimer's Special Effects Team Recreate an Atomic Blast Without CGI? (www.syfy.com)

Christopher Nolan raised many an eyebrow in late 2022 when he revealed that his upcoming World War II biopic — Oppenheimer (opening on the big screen July 21) — had achieved the effect of a detonating atomic bomb without the use of CG.

Kinda wild how the smallest things affect the biggest things

Jjk, horimiya, sugar apple fairy tale.

Trying a question post, audience participation required… (lemmy.ninja)

Let’s talk about boomer shooters. What are you looking for? What’s your top 3 list of attributes a boomer shooter MUST have and 1 thing that eliminates it from the classification? Do you look for LofFi sound tracks? Are voxel graphics allowed? Does everything have to be a sprite? Can you make a boomer shooter in Unreal...

Honestly, I'd say putting gameplay and interesting mechanics before graphical fidelity would be enough. I think that's what makes current boomer shooters so good. They might look old but their gameplay dynamics should be creative and avant garde.

Very cool. Impressive that they can control it in all those different modes

Should the Fediverse welcome its new surveillance-capitalism overlords? Opinions differ! (privacy.thenexus.today)

I'm changing my stance on the whole Meta/project92 thing after reading this article. I think the entire* fediverse should block project92 by default. Later, some instances can re-evaluate whether to maintain those blocks, once we have a better idea of what the benefits and consequences of federating will be:...

People have been bringing up the Google eating xmpp thing so there is precedent. It's also not as if meta is innocent to apply innocent until proven guilty.

But also if dealing with an explicitly profit seeking corpo, why would you trust them unless you had very good reason to? I believe the burden of evidence is on that side given the context.

Thats kinda wild. Really shows how everything we do has unintended consequences.

majorgator13,

eh.. kinda expected. Hopefully as long the sacrifice helps gameplay and stability it wont be a complete disaster like recent releases

Currently mind blown by turbo overkill. Haven't had an single player FPS experience this engaging in ages.

Skip and loafer. Some of the best developed and complex characters I've seen in anime.

I'll say it, game graphics are good enough now, we don't need to keep pushing them for this to be the consequence. keep the graphics as they are and focus the next 10y on just improving production pipeline for the existing tech, different game experiences & alleviating crunch.

majorgator13,

@djlink honestly AAA has lost the focus on the actual gameplay. the biggest recent innovation in fps is probably ultrakill haha

The Case Study of Vanitas

I am listening to the OST for The Case Study of Vanitas and being reminded of just how great the anime was to watch. My feeling is that it is underrated, but I'm not sure it is really, but perhaps what it really is... is 'unfound' by it's core audience that is clearly out there. For me it's one of my great anime series of the...

Hmm. I felt it had the potential to be more than it ended up being. The vibes were immaculate but the actual story and characters felt held back.
