pingveno,

WASP = White Anglo-Saxon Protestants. It's a reach, but it's funny so I'll give it to them.

pingveno,

This coming from the same police bureau where the union head leaked a false report that a city council member who had gone toe-to-toe with them was involved in a hit-and-run crash. I'm shocked! Shocked, I tell you! And then when said police officer was fired, arbitrators reinstated him. If that level of abuse of power get excused, I don't know what to tell you.

And it did have a lasting effect. When the city council member came up for reelection, I was talking with a friend about that position. She didn't known that the report was false.

pingveno,

Quite literally. It's a shared project between Belgium and France.

pingveno,

For Crimea, it makes a bit more sense. It was a popular vacation spot in the Soviet Era. Just... maybe a bit less right now given that it's an active war zone?

pingveno,

I've had a positive experience overall. I have had the Pixel 2 and now 5 on Google Fi. It's nice to have a phone that is close to stock Android. My bone to pick until the Pixel 6 was a short support life at just three years. Now it has security updates until five years, which is less than I would like but much more acceptable. When my phone's security support life ends in October, I am planning on a new Pixel. I'll still take a look at my other options, though.

Overall, I've been very impressed with the camera, including some very challenging lighting scenes. I have a few photos up on Wikipedia that are just me popping out my cell phone and taking a well framed shot.

pingveno,

I would be interested in seeing this further broken down. How does region of Ukraine make a difference? What did it look like extending back to the fall of the Soviet Union.

pingveno,

My favorite episode of the Netflix baking show Nailed It! had a QA engineer on. In the main portion of each episode, each contestant is given a "panic" button for if things go south where they can get help from a professional baker that is on the panel.

The QA engineer had a different idea. She read through the recipe and found any ambiguities or questions before she did anything. She then hit the panic button and calmly went over each question with the baker. Her creation was the only one that actually came out well.
