On the internet, nobody knows you are Australian.

To tell you the truth, I don’t know who I am either. Somebody sincere, perhaps.

But if you ever read this one day, I hope that you are as proud of me, as I am of the person I imagined you to be.

I think a lot of women really underestimate how terrifying it is to be actually stuck with a 300 kilo wild animal. Real bears are big, and fast, and really, really scary.

Watch this clip from the Eric Andre Show. One of the only time he broke character, there was genuine fear at the sight of the bear there.

Edit: Nevermind, I was undecided, but I think I’ll take my chances with the bear now.

Is calling me names really necessary?

Yeah, you just convinced me. DEFINITELY don’t want to get stuck in the woods with someone like you.

Technically, every Android phone uses a “very bespoke AOSP”, because the Android kernel is customized for the hardware of every single phone model, which can include things like hardware drivers and carrier services.

This is the reason that there is no universal Android ROM that works across every Android phone, unlike Windows or normal GNU/Linux distributions.

MargotRobbie,
@MargotRobbie@lemmy.world avatar

The manufacturer has to release the phone’s kernel source code before any custom ROM development can happen for the phone most of the time for that reason.

There is a reason that GrapheneOS only works on a couple of Pixel phones.

Could be just like windows in that it has every driver for every piece of hardware in the package, just bloating it unnecessarily.

Google specifically designed the Android kernel so that the driver are excluded, unlike the normal Linux or Windows kernel, because, long story short, Qualcomm did not want it to happen.

Most of the time, yes. It always make me feel angry or sad.

Plenty of companies pivot when their initial business plan doesn’t work out or if the market changes.

For example, did you know that American Express used to be a shipping company like FedEx and UPS? Or Mattel used to sell picture frames before they started making toys? Or Nintendo started out as a playing card company and still sells them today?

MargotRobbie,

That’s a good point. Cryptocurrency and NFTs are not good things to be involved in.

Whenever Kevin O’leary says anything, everything comes into context if you know how he got to be as rich as he is today.

The short version of the story is Kevin O’leary destroyed the entire educational game industry by buying everyone out and took on massive amount of debt, misrepresented his company’s financial condition so Mattel was left holding the bag when they acquired The Learning Company in what was called one of the worst acquisitions in history, was subsequently fired and almost took down Mattel with him, and he has been coasting on that money he took from Mattel ever since.

This has lead directly to the resignation of then Mattel CEO Jill Barad, the woman who made Barbie what it is today.

I find it incredibly ironic for him, of all people, to be talking about conducting employment background checks.

Would you expect anything less from esteemed Academy Award nominated character actress Margot Robbie?

I know, it’s like Hollywood will make a movie out of literally anything nowadays. It’s a Pop-Tarts movie today, but what’s next? A movie based on Monopoly? The Sims? Barbies (now available on Blu-ray and select streaming services)?

I mean, can you imagine?

There is a time and place to play a wacky self-parody for laughs (for example, on an obscure Internet technology forum), but an adaptation of one of the darkest storyline in Marvel comics involving Gorr the God Butcher sure isn’t it.

Gorr was an effective character because 1. he was extremely successful in accomplishing his goal and 2. he was right (partially, at least) about the nature of gods being selfish and indifferent which caused the self doubts in Thor, and the key point of the storyline was that in accomplishing his goal, Gorr became a hypocrite who embodies the very traits he used as reasons for his god-butchering. Neither of these ideas were effectively adapted for this movie, so what’s the point of using Gorr the God Butcher.

The actors’ individual performance really isn’t the issue, because even the best performance from the best actors can’t save a flawed script, critics will just call it a wasted performance.

Reposts has always been a major issue on reddit, there are an infamous moderator who would delete posts with traction and repost it himself for karma.

Using bots to duplicate comments on reposts is a new low though.

@MargotRobbie@lemmy.world avatar

That’s esteemed Academy Award nominated (and incredibly humble) character actress Margot Robbie to you!

MargotRobbie,
@MargotRobbie@lemmy.world avatar

It’s definitely not a new issue, but it’s only gotten worse since reddit has gone more and more mainstream.

If you follow me on Lemmy since last year, you should know that I’ve always been extremely against having bots posting here.

MargotRobbie,
@MargotRobbie@lemmy.world avatar

This bit is way funnier when it’s a real person saying it instead of a bot.

Google Docs, I guess?

Not really a big fan of them though.

We highly recommend only mentioning the brand name of your product since mentioning links in posts makes the post more likely to be reported as spam and hidden.

Like Barbie™, now available on Blu-ray and select streaming service!

Because a car company would know how to make decent cars after two decade?

MargotRobbie,
@MargotRobbie@lemmy.world avatar

Also, speaking of manipulating comment sections with posts designed to promote products by mentioning them naturally, Academy Award and Golden Globe nominated movie, “Barbie”, is now available on Blu-ray and select streaming services.

You are telling me that one of the most prolific and influential artist of our time, 5 time Grammy Award winning musician Weird Al Yankovic, would run his own social media account on a niche platform to crack jokes and shitpost on the Internet, as if celebrities are just regular people at the end of the day?

I don’t know, maybe this is one of those “novelty account” I’ve heard so much about here.
