Did you see the X-Files reboot? There's unironically a full plot irelavant scene showcasing the Ford™ Explorer™'s advanced side bumper cameras, another one that's about the Remote Unlock™ feature in the Ford™ EcoConnect™ App™ that Mulder uses to recover the keys he locked in their Ford™ Focus™, and of course we can't forget the knock off Fast and Furious extended car chase scene where Mulder, driving the Ford™ Mustang™ completely outmatches the Totally Not A Charger Missing Its Badges™ in both straight line speed and handling
I just have trouble believing that the probably thousands of people both government and private involved in such programs that no doubt exist across every major power on earth (unless for whatever reason UFOs choose to only fly around and crash into the continental US) have all managed to stay quiet about something of this magnitude for decades (or damn near 100 years if his claim of it starting in the 1930s is to be believed)
Not to mention that, simultaneously, the government(s) is powerful enough to successfully suppress this information for a hundred years, while some how also failing to keep somebody from testifying about it in a publicly televised congressional hearing
The Federal Reserve has already launched a small test of near-instantaneous financial transactions. Every time they talk about payments as a future feature of X/Twitter, I wonder if they know that’s getting Sherlocked.
Being able to show off a game or watch a movie with friends (without needing to mess with Virtual Audio Cables so there's no weird echo from their voices) in as little as 2 mouse clicks is the single killer feature Discord has that will make it incredibly hard for me to replace
I wish they would stop calling standard capacity rifle magazines "high capacity" to try to play them up as being in some way unusual
10 rounds isn't even really standard for pistols, basically every full size pistol comes with a magazine larger than that (for reference, the most common US police duty pistols, the Glock 19 and 22, come from the factory with 15 round magazines), smaller than that and you're getting into compacts that are meant to be more easily concealable (which itself has its own risk)
I'm fine with restrictions that make sense, but trying to say that full size pistols (with magazines >10 rounds) are "high capacity" and "not commonly used for self defense" is just patently false
Do you like a tactile click? Are you a sucker for screws? Or something you can put in any direction? Maybe it's yours or another country's power plugs?...
Worst internal connector by far is dual USB3, the cable is so thick and unwieldly, I always feel like the pressure from trying to bend it is going to rip the header off the board
Sometimes I finish showering, and I was so heavily on autopilot while thinking about other things that I have no memory of if I actually washed my body or not, I just trust that I did
The only time I ever forget is if something goes awry (like I find out my shampoo bottle is empty and have to pause the shower to get more), causing ShowerAutopilot.exe to crash and behave in strange unintended ways

7b q4 (quantized, basically compressed down to only using 4 bit precision) is about 4gb of ram, 13b q4 is about 8gb, and 30b q4 is the one that's about 25gb
30b generates slowly, but more or less usably on a CPU, the rest generate on CPU just fine
It should yeah, it used to be that if you wanted to run the model on your GPU it needed to fit entirely within its VRAM (which really limited what models people could use on consumer GPUs), but I think recently they've added the ability to run part of the model on your GPU+VRAM and part of it on your CPU+RAM, although I don't know the specifics as I've only briefly played around with it
It always feels difficult to justify spending so much on other brands when a Samsung phone from 2 years ago will have reduced to a quarter of its retail price simply due to their oversaturation of the used market
I feel like things created by AI are transformative enough that it's hard to argue that the resultant works inherently infringe on any copyrights by the very nature of how they were created
I don't like the idea of restricting ourselves to the capitalistic idea that labor is some how the only source of value in our world, especially when something like sufficiently advanced AI and robotics has the real potential to reduce the value of human labor to zero
I hope in the future works can be judged purely on their artistic or educational value alone
