Realization today: As a bisexual trans person, the "do I want to be them or be with them" dilemma goes both ways!

I see hot girl: Do I want to be her or be with her? Yes.

I see brooding sad boy: Do I want to be him or be with him? Oh...I thought I was him...but I actually want to be with him.... :akko_blush:

This realization brought to you by @rooster asking which power ranger we wish we were and realizing I was drawn to the green/white ranger because I thought I was the brooding sad boy who was trying to learn to overcome his mistakes...when that was just my sublimating my attraction to the sad boy on a redemption arc because I couldn't connect with being a boy attracted to a boy! 😳

This also applies to Angel from Buffy, Vash from Trigun, and the 9th and 10th Doctors...and almost every other guy character in media I ever thought I identified with 😅 😅 😅

Meanwhile, all the ladies I thought were hot, like Linka from "Captain Planet," Ivy from "Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego," Sarah Connor from Terminator 2, Ripley from Alien, and others...were the women I wanted to be rather than the women I wanted to "be with." 😯

Also, as I have given my bisexuality time to simmer, I've started to realize that my attraction to guys is very very specific: twinks that look like dykes that are brooding sad boys 😅

Ugh, i've been having more stress dreams/nightmares that involve awful transphobia being done to me. But I rarely encounter transphobia like that in my day to day life, so i don't even know why my brain goes there. Best guess: brain is trying to prepare for future feared transphobia by playing out scenarios or my brain has just internalized it fully as a stressor to manifest when processing stress...ugh

It's about time that I got in on (with @loewe ) and share the most recent band I've been obsessed with.

Artist: Bridge City Sinners (Frontperson: Libby, she/they)

Why? Describing this as "dark neofolk" doesn't really describe how they bring together diverse styles of vocals and instrumentation that pull both from metal and the dark sides of country and folk. Not to mention some of the songs really speak to those of us living with mental illness or otherwise on the margins.

@rooster Any time a person over 30 talks like queer or trans people are a new thing, I'm like - huh, you all sure as hell knew what we were when you bullied and beat me as a kid. And when you murdered my elders. Funny sort of memory problem you got there.

Honestly, I just wish these people who platform editorials and pundits on this had even one vertebrae of spine to let one of us reply with, "THE REASON THERE'S MORE OF US IS BECAUSE YOU HAVEN'T MURDERED US YET!"

@CharlotteEowyn oh, i absolutely agree! I tried to replay it a while back and i just couldn't. Militarism can be a big barrier for me with games in general now, but especially that 00s war on terror flavored militarism is pretty much unbearable to push through.

Two reasons you should move to San Diego:

  1. We get 2, count them TWO, whole months of Pride! North county and easy county do most of their events in June, while San Diego city itself does the pride march in July. One-sixth of our year is unbridled gayness!

  2. If you are queer and you ask nicely, or naughtily, you can kiss me! 😘😘😘
