BRITT BILL WOULD CREATE FEDERAL DATABASE TRACKING PREGNANCIES
Alabama Senator Katie Britt, best known for delivering a bizarre, melodramatic televised response to President Biden's 2024 State of the Union address, has introduced a bill to create a federal website to collect data on pregnant people.
The bill, the More Opportunities for Moms to Succeed Act (MOMS Act), would mandate the creation of a federal website called Pregnancy.gov, which Britt calls a "clearinghouse of relevant resources available for pregnant and postpartum women, and women parenting young children."
The website would take users through series of questions, it claims, to generate a list of relevant resources of interest within the user’s zip code. The bill would also allow government officials to reach out to users for additional information.
The database would refer users to so-called "crisis pregnancy centers"; fake clinics that do not actually provide women with healthcare, but rather use deception and coercion to scare women away from getting an abortion, even if it necessary for their own health.
This video essay uses the Barbie Movie as a primer to help explain what patriarchy actually is, what it isn't, and how it ends up harming everyone, including men.
Dozens of people have been killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza, including journalist Bahaa Okasha, who died with his wife and son in an attack in the Jabalia refugee camp.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor (#EuroMed) says an investigation it conducted into the killing by the Israeli military of 12 members of a Palestinian family, mostly women and children, on December 4 as they tried to evacuate a Gaza City neighbourhood found that the drone strike was “without justification or necessity”.
If the same people go after trans rights, gay + lesbian rights and women's rights, and if these people are always traditionalists working in the cause of a strictly defined social conservatism, then isn't the problem that a patriarchy wants to control the sexual lives and gender expressions of others, to restrict personal freedoms and to create incarcerating and incarcerated lives?
The second one I'm watching now is about violence against women
I'm already having trouble watching the first few minutes, tears are welling up in my eyes
How can it be that we don't deal with this more often?
These women will suffer for a lifetime, struggle with the consequences and yet are only a marginal figure in the media
Every third day a woman is murdered in Germany, every third day, it breaks my heart
Ruba's story

"We are today on day 215 of the war, and the attacks do not stop, the situation is heading towards genocide, dispersal, and displacement. We have no shelter, and everything we had has been bombed, and there are no words to describe the magnitude of the collapse we are suffering and the suffering we are going through. We are in danger, and at any moment we may lose our lives."

"We ventured out amidst growing tension, carrying a faint hope that we would return to our homes within two or three days, but reality was harsher than we imagined.
On our way, civilian evacuees were subjected to targeted attacks, and innocent victims fell everywhere. We reached Rafah, a city where we knew no one. We began to build our tents amidst the sand and stones, in a desperate attempt to create a temporary shelter..."
"The story began suddenly; we woke up to the sound of deafening rockets and violent explosions shaking the ground. These loud screams haven't stopped until now, and fear ran deep within us with every new roar.
Then came the shocking news: we had to leave our homes immediately and evacuate south towards Rafah. The orders were clear; everything in the north was vulnerable to bombing and invasion."

Five women were among six people stabbed to death in a shopping mall in Sydney last month. There have been protests during the past week against the rise in violence against #women in Australia. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is calling it a national crisis. Tom Canetti with more. #Australia#Misogyny#Femicide
