It is time for #musicwomenwednesday. My pick today is :
Carson Amanda "Carsie" Blanton (born July 22, 1985) is an American singer-songwriter based in New Jersey, who performs on guitar. Blanton has released eight studio albums and three EPs, all with a "pay what you please" pricing strategy. Blanton wrote "My true calling as an artist is to share…What I actually want to do is make beautiful music and then give it to everyone, regardless of what they give me back."
How about some Young Posse for #MusicWomenWednesday .. because it's nice to see a k-girl-group focus on hip hop, and they keep sneaking back into my playlists because their samples are all the nostalgia.
"Cowboy Junkies are an alternative country and folk-rock band formed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1985 by Alan Anton (bassist), Michael Timmins (songwriter, guitarist), Peter Timmins (drummer) and Margo Timmins (vocalist). The three Timminses are siblings...'Sweet Jane' is a song by American rock band the Velvet Underground...Lou Reed was often quoted as saying that the Cowboy Junkies' version was his favorite." For @loewe 's #MusicWomenWednesday , something from the Slovakian electro/ambient musician Keosz collaborating with Robocat, an Ukrainian underground electropop singer.
Juliette Mauduit is a band member of Thot and her vocal range adds depth to Thot's new album Delta. Not all of the album gels with me, but there's plenty of wonderful tracks
I can't really define what subgenres the band and their music fits, but I'd say it's metal, post-punk and more elements.
An interesting one for #MusicWomenWednesday - sometimes as I'm watching TV, I use Shazam to take note of a song so I can find it later.
Isobel Waller-Bridge is a modern classical composer for TV and movies, and her cool song "Bloom" was in whatever I was watching. That led me to her whole 2015 EP, 'Music for Strings'.
I'm not a fan of your older regular classical type stuff. But THIS? THIS is damn good.
My artist this week is Marika Louise Hackman (born 17 February 1992) is an English vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter.
Hackman has released a mini-album, That Iron Taste (2013), and four full-length albums: We Slept at Last (2015); I'm Not Your Man (2017); Any Human Friend (2019) and Covers (2020). She has also released four EPs: Free Covers (2012), Sugar Blind (2013), Deaf Heat (2014), and Wonderland (2016).
In 2023, Marika Hackman released a new song called "No Caffeine".[1] The track is taken from the album Big Sigh, released on 12 January 2024, which was her first studio album in five years.
