@benjaminhollon@RL_Dane > She threw the switch labeled “overlay building schematics.” The external view of the building disappeared, but instead of blueprints, she was presented with a green puzzle piece. “This view requires the Adobe Flash Player plug-in. Do you want to search for this plug-in now?”
@RL_Dane@benjaminhollon Like with most things involving economics, that article has a lot of, "I'm smart and know things and am going to tell you EXACTLY how I know the True Meaning of the Universe."

I was thinking "I should ask my roommate what he thinks" since he's an Economics major, but then I realized that as of today we are no longer roommates. ;)
(well technically he moves out on the 9th, but I'm gone from BCS until the 9th, so we probably won't see each other until next year [if at all])
I'll never forget my first semester back at college in 11 years -- it was Fall 2013.
Not only did that semester feel like it took forever, each additional class that first week was mind-blowing.
I don't necessarily mean the content (although I really loved my Geology class), but just the feeling of "OH MY GOODNESS ANOTHER HOUR OF CLASS TO GO TO!!"
Going back to college was such a mind-expanding experience. I really miss it.

Yeah, the thing this semester is that I pretty much lost track of the days going by at some point. I'd think about something I was doing yesterday then realize that "yesterday" was a week before. I started waking up to it near the end, so I hope I'll be able to prevent the summer from being the same.
...though, arguably, having no money and never making any is a form of financial stability, whereas having a lot and never knowing exactly how much is a lack thereof
which just goes to show, of course
that the English language is awful because no that is NOT what that means dammit
I had a lot of fun building that up and (correctly) expecting you to respond seriously without realizing what was going on.
I'm someone who has a really hard time keeping silent when I know there's a joke being played, so prematurely springing the trap takes a ton of willpower to avoid. XD

Yeah, especially with LLMs growing, I don't know that anyone in the writing industry will feel very stable for a good long while.
Once again: LLMs would be cool if they were used as toys, and didn't require hundreds of thousands of dollars of electricity at best to train (probably tens of millions for ChatGPT ffs!).
I think a lot of the research is really cool. I think the results of the research are absolutely horrifying.
