There, also, are times in a trial where the attorneys momentarily disarm and just laugh at the immediate circumstances. Sometimes it happens when the judge points out the ludicrous positions taken by each side. Believe me, the attorneys well appreciate the temporary reprieve from combat.
I agree. In my younger, more libertarian days, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report reached me the way nothing else could have. Those jokes had a way of cutting through so many of my assumptions and helped me open my mind.

am really proud of the Open Government campaigns i was part of during the aughts. we made a lot of inroads but from the PoV of a historian there's still a lot of work to do.
what you're describing is history being recorded in real time. we need more congresscritters cognizant and willing to use that power.
