If I wanted to start a blog, but had no interest in managing the software of it, which platform should I choose? Honestly been out of the blogging space for so long, I have no idea what the options are outside of managed wordpress.

@pjol @thelinuxcast I agree with this suggestions, Bearblog is cool, Pika is cool and I've heard of Scribbles too

@thelinuxcast I'm probably not the person to answer, given that it's over 3 years since I posted on my blog. However, I will anyway. I use(d) jekyll and GitHub pages.

I can edit all my content in local md files and then just commit and push to have it published.

@thelinuxcast https://bearblog.dev/ is very nice for fast and minimalist blogs.

Ghost is you want something fancier with newsletter tools.

Static files blog generators are also cool, but can be a little bit of a hassle (you need to set up your git repo, your hosting server, and each edit is generally dealt with a git push from your machine, and a git pull & rebuild from the server)

I'm pretty complexity-averse, and I've had a good time with pelican as my SSG. It's pretty dead simple to set up and use, more so than Hugo, IMHO

@RL_Dane Even that is too much set up for me. I want to sigh up for something someone else hosts, and just blog. If I have to manage an update or even look at DNS, it's too complex

@thelinuxcast look at Codeberg pages.

@thelinuxcast Consider micro.blog. It has all the features you need as far as I can see, has Fediverse integration, and is run by decent people.

Second this, I've heard @drose raving about micro.blog

@thelinuxcast If you're fine with static sites, I recommend using Publii. It's like Hugo and Jekyll, but much easier to set up and use.
