If you don't have public conversations with quality critics of your worldview, you're not better than partisan/ideological corporate media. Especially when you routinely mock the people you disagree with. You're facilitating an echo chamber. You're serving an audience junk food, scared they might abandon you if you step out of line. It makes democracy harder to sustain. You're only an alternative to the mainstream in the most superficial sense possible. It's still a grift.

It's hard to have public conversations with quality critics when they've all decided that logic and critical thinking (not critical theory) are all "tools of the oppressor" and refuse to engage in formal (or even informal, but still dictated by logic) arguments. I'm sorry, but there's no freaking way I'm accepting someone's "lived experience" over a valid, sound, conceptually clear premises and the conclusions that necessarily follow.

it is but very few will take it that far. you can usually kindly interrogate those arguments away. when you can't, treat it like religion. accept that people hold unfounded beliefs but society must be based on data and more universal human truths, not anecdote and mythic framing of the past.
