@MysticMoonsong Agreed! I wish algorithms were nicer to smaller creators, artists and whatnot. They do such great work. It's incredibly difficult to be seen.

@MysticMoonsong imgur has a sorting thing where you can just see newest submissions. You do run the risk of seeing the occasional nightmarish horror post, but I used to have a lot of fun sitting in the new queue and just commenting. Not joking, I met someone there once that ended up being my long distance long term partner for 8 years.

The internet has a lot of power to bring people together, if only our corporate overlords would let us do our thing.

@MysticMoonsong What's your thoughts on either platform, why are you moving? I'm only using Obsidian locally, but I've been thinking about maybe getting into some sort of such service for more "publicly known" common knowledge points about my own homebrew to give access to for my players.

@MysticMoonsong @tieflingdiotima it's incredible what a non-algorithmic social network can accomplish. I've formed more interesting and solid relationships on mastodon in the past year than I ever have since the era of old forums, long before the monopolistic hellscape we're on now.

@MysticMoonsong @tieflingdiotima I am really sorry to hear that. I hope the situation is resolved by now and that you're safe.

As for Twitter, I tried multiple times, but that place has always been a hostile little cesspool of clout chasers and people pulling up ladders behind themselves. Never really gotten anywhere with it. Here? Entirely different story. While not everyone is friendly or nice, the vaaast majority are and helpful on top of it.

I almost hope Mastodon never goes mainstream.
