I just found this out. If you want to know if someone on Threads can be followed on Mastodon, you can type the following into the terminal:

curl "https://threads.net/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:potus@threads.net"

For the POTUS account on threads.

If you get back a JSON object that doesn't have an error in it, you have someone you can follow.

This means it's fairly easy to write a local script to see who has turned on federation over on Threads.

Thinking about the engineer who said they believe interoperability with the social web would just be a cost center and wouldn’t bring any profits. The point is not how interoperability affects the bottom line, the point is that it allows your platform to survive in an ever changing social media landscape and have a bottom line at all. If was part of the social web, they would have had a network of 1.8M active users, not 1,000, and perhaps wouldn’t have had to shut down.

@misc this is something to think about. Perhaps groups will solve this, especially if they are exportable/importable.

The thing here is that this idea could be implemented off Mastodon and then integrated with the various import APIs.

Dropped by Bluesky for the first time in a while. I'm a Fediperson but still have sympathy with what they're trying to do, and the tone seems to have stabilized for the moment.

Anyhow, I have 30 invites that I haven't thought about in a while, so, giving them away. Reply to this post if you want one. In case that's more than 30 people I will invent totally arbitrary and questionably fair criteria for handing them out.

Maybe stop if there are already a huge number of replies.

@davew I thought I'd pass this along. I've always loved your paragraph links / winerlinks. Today I bashed something out to do this in Javascript for my blog thats on GitHub Pages. Anyway, here is the code, if its any use to anyone take it. It's working for what I need it to do. I took some liberties with the design, but its nothing someone with a bit of web knowledge couldn't revert to your design or make their own.

@jeffjarvis as a conservative who tries to remain devout in these day I couldn’t agree more. A quote I like about this: “I am willing to serve my country, but my worship I reserve for that which is far greater than my country. To worship my country as a god is to bring a curse upon it.” Rabindranath Tagore.

Both have been cursed by their merging. This abomination has been warned against by centuries of prophets, gurus, and teachers of a multitude of cultures and religions.

In a #TTRPG #GameDesign you generally have Physical(STR/DEX/CON), Mental(INT), Social(CHR), and Spiritual(WIS) focused Stats. However you only tend to take Physical Damage/healing. Some games have Mental Damage/Healing (Insanity). A few have Spiritual Damage (Mana Points/time to recharge). Almost none have Social Damage (Embarrassment).

What sort of mechanic or approach would you take to Mental, Social, and Spiritual Damage / Healing, if you were designing a game from the ground up?
