@absolutspacegrl@mastodon.social

NASA engineer working on Fuel Cells for human lunar exploration & alternative energy on Earth. New Orleans transplant in Houston.

I’ve managed to attract the ire of many of the chief twit’s fanboys over the past decade; this place seems blissfully free of them ❤️

Sometimes it’s rocket science, but mostly it’s communication.

She/her; opinions are mine & do not reflect my employer.

I forgot to upload my pic, so here you go! From Kerrville, Texas - April 8, 2024.

It was cloudy, but we had almost 4.5 mins of totality so there were a few moments where we could see it!

And here I am in an interview - yes, I was crying - it was a very emotional experience. It’s hard to explain.

So I’m reading this document for a commercial space thing and it says that there will be no schedule margin for testing. That means no margin for troubleshooting or retests.

And I just wonder why I come home and keep working until 8 pm or later because I genuinely want them to like, you know, not kill people, and I see that and it’s like yeah all my comments are going in the trash, aren’t they? ☹️

During a segment on NASA's moon program, an executive at Jeff Bezos' space venture says the company is aiming to send its first cargo lander to the surface of the in the next 12 to 16 months. https://www.geekwire.com/2024/blue-origin-2025-moon-lander/

@alanboyle I have thoughts and will leave it at that.

It’s pretty wild just how bad this is. It’s affecting ISS ops at times, and a headache for everyone involved from planning to guidance and navigation.

@Jon_Kramer @JohnBarentine spent rocket stages, old satellites, the debris field created when 2 objects collide, and basically anything you can think of that get launched into space - stuff’s gonna get left behind.

Here’s a decent article explaining some of it: https://www.visualcapitalist.com/cp/space-debris-by-country/
