@grayrattus @photophoregirl this. Claiming that pre capitalist societies weren't destroying ecosystems simply is wrong. We caused the extinction of mega fauna, deforested all of the Mediterranean and the British Isles, hunted dodos and moas to extinction all before the creation of modern capitalistic industrial society.

Ubuntu is stuck with amd64 instead of the more sensible x86_64 packages because Debian (and some other distros) were short-sighted and assumed that Intel wouldn't make x86-compatible 64-bit processors.

(From "devel" to "amd64" to second rate virtual dependencies to the bizarre behaviours of Apt, the Deb-based universe just seems to do everything wrong!)

@ibboard at the point this name was chosen, it wasn't clear at all which name would win in the end.
Windows called it x64, while Intel was branding itanium as Intel64, amd64 was a reasonable choice at the time.
Today I am more annoyed by the confusion between arm64 and aarch64.

Gibt es in DE eigentlich überhaupt ein IMAX-Kino, dass die Filme auch in ordentlichem 70mm-Format zeigt? Laser-IMAX-Kinos gibt es ja ein paar, aber für Oppenheimer hätte ich schon gerne das Beste.

    Did my local via ferrata again in perfect weather conditions.

    I don't really understand the attacks on the mastodon app. There are many apps out there. Nobody is forcing you to use their app or to use mastodon.social. The fediverse is bigger than any one instance or app. Let's build a bigger fediverse and not fall into the trap of infighting, OK?

    @jwildeboer the issue is, it's not 2010 anymore, people aren't used to have this level of alternative clients for a service and at least the playstore is very strongly promoting "the one" app over alternative clients.
    So you end up with an obvious choice with non obvious alternatives, combined with the fact, that, at least on Android the official app obviously isn't the best app out there.

    My payment in April will have been the last.

    @scy I would never claim to be "holistic" about anything, but I honestly don't see, why I should prefer the police using MS Teams or Slack instead.

    @scy but they don't talk about intercepting their service, matrix is providing infrastructure for the police and literally the whole french state and I fail to see anything wrong with that.
    I want those institutions to run matrix and for 90% of society being trusted by the police is something to brag about.
