I wrote my first HTML page in 1996, and since I advocate a pragmatic use of Web technologies, defining and applying good practices: progressive enhancement, accessibility, performance, etc.

I'm also a self-taught amateur photographer. I love to travel to discover new horizons and people, shooting both nature and urban landscapes, and many other topics.

What are you hoping to see at WWDC next week??

@jensimmons performance metrics in Safari. We don't know what the performance bottlenecks are for at least 50% of Shopify mobile traffic so we can't optimize for it

I really appreciate all the kind words of support, sometimes it feels like I only see negative feedback and while I usually take that in good stride and strive to resolve the underlying issues...

I am only human, and sometimes that negative feedback stings more than usual

Rather than letting it get to my head, publicly acknowledging this, and my struggles, are my therapy

Your encouragement means the world to me and keeps me motivated!

Thank you for believing in me and the @pixelfed app

❤️

From years of being bored, unsatisfied, or struggling in various jobs and industries, I finally feel like I have come home.

I'm so happy to join an industry with such brilliant, interesting, and gloriously nerdy people - I mean this in the best possible way!

I have attended both Beyond Tellerrand Düsseldorf and CSS Day 2024 and, wow. Huge thank yous to the organisers, speakers, and to the many warm and funny fellow attendees I had the joy to socialise with.

This is my church.

@sarajw I heard something by Conan O'Brien once where he says how important it is to "find your people" in life. Find a community that is excited about the same things you are, and welcomes your participation. I think the web enables us to do that, and the front-end bubble (to me) absolutely feels like "my people". So many friends here that I've never met IRL, but I know we would hit it off instantly.

Another episode in the life of having a é in my name, when people don't accept "non English letters" whatever that means?. Would you tell Beyoncé she can't use her name on your site?

I got a whole talk on the topic, by the way: https://stephaniewalter.design/blog/hello-my-name-is-stephanie-talk-encoding-special-characters-issues-poor-user-experience/

EN : are they by any chance some people on the Fediverse who are in #Athens tomorrow evening? I'm a French cyclist and I will arrive in your city tomorrow from Paris after 40 days bikig. It would be nice to have a drink to celebrate With you 🎉 (and I still have some geowoods to distribute 😊)

Better safe than sorry with a utility that requires as many permissions as Bartender does. I’ve loved and used Bartender for years - decades, maybe? - but that was because I trusted the developer.

These new developers, whoever they are, have not earned my trust. Trying out Ice now, a alternative: https://icemenubar.app/ https://mastodon.cc/@jgarber/112560761955454817

“The Snows of Kilimanjaro”

Amboseli National Park is a national park in Kenya that spreads across the Kenya-Tanzania border. It has great views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

Almost 85 percent of the ice cover on Kilimanjaro disappeared between October 1912 and June 2011. At the current rate, most of the ice on Kilimanjaro will disappear by 2040. 😢

“The Snows of Kilimanjaro” is a short story by Ernest Hemingway.

You don't owe anyone a follow (this includes me). Not even people you've been mutuals for a while. Not even people you know on real life. Not even people whose profile you check often.

Sometimes they just post too much. Or post stuff you don't want pop up on your list (but want to check on your terms). Or they start (re-)posting hate (you don't owe them a call out; especially not if you don't think it will go well). Sometimes they are lovely folks but just bore you with their favorite sports.
