    Am I the only one who gets an enormous feeling of satisfaction from truly finishing a tube of toothpaste, roll of tape, bottle of shampoo, tube of chapstick, etc?

    @brad_frost I am kinda the opposite; my mom insisted on our scraping every single bit of peanut butter out of the jar, and so I get some satisfaction from being able to say "ok that's good enough, open the next jar".

    Contrary to the assumptions behind this, a man doesn't have to be gay to sexually harrass other men. Unless I am wrong, there are a lot of "traditional" male hazing techniques that could fit that definition: from making fun of someone's junk, to mock-flirting with someone suspected to be gay, to forcing someone to be naked in public.

    So nice to go to an church (Trinity in Easton PA) with the Pride flag up in July, abd where the rector condemns the Supreme Court in her sermon. My home church, even having a progressive rector and supportive parishioners, is so timid by comparison. We have work to do.

    I chose to survive. I had to have the strength to fight 35 years of self-hate to be the woman I am. I will always fight for the right of LGBT people to be who we are, openly and without fear. And I'm proud of that.

    I'm on tenterhooks, twiddling my thumbs. European Court of Justice will issue advocate general's opinion on June 22. The question before the 15 judges when we had a 4-hour oral argument with simultaneous translation into 12 languages was "if a public safety standard becomes mandatory under law, are citizens allowed to read it." For example, an ISO standard. I have hopes that the answer must be yes.

    I think the sudden proliferation of kbin and lemmy shows that mastodon and its clients really needs to up their game on activitypub support. The issues I’ve had accessing Groups in the @Mastodon web ui, @ivory and @IceCubesApp are 100% protocol support problems.

    There really shouldn’t be that much difference in consumption of content from these sources.

    I keep wondering if there's a way to re-create some of the experience (i.e. topic-centered instead of account-centered) on the Mastodon platform.

    Maybe an interface centered around hashtags? You can already subscribe to hashtags now, but have a webpage where your subscriptions are listed on the left sidebar, and you click on one to display its feed in the main area, and we could do something with the number of stars/boosts each post has? Make hashtags more discoverable too.
