@drewdevault Five servers getting lost in the mail is incredible. I can't imagine having to deal with this right after the attack and emergency migration.
Happy to see that IPv6 it working, and looking forward to EU payments.
What do you plan to use in place of Celery? Just Redis and Golang?
Send leads on apartments in NL within 2 hours transit to Amsterdam? Min 60 m² max €1500/mo. If you know someone with a place for rent, please get in touch
@drewdevault Hoorn and Enkhuizen are within thirty minutes and an hour of Amsterdam respectively (despite actually being a far away, the train is pretty fast).
I heard a few folks say that buying with a mortgage is easier than renting in this country and I have to say they weren't kidding. And your mortgage might even be lower than rent.
@dangillmor Adobe has no motivation to stop shitting on their clients like this: their clients seem to have no issue coming back and giving them money again year after year.
Meanwhile, developers involved in more honest endeavours barely get any funding at all.
posix_spawn(3) lets me execute a child using a given PATH as image. Is there any way to use an in-memory image instead? Basically, run the child without requiring any filesystem access?
@b0rk@nicole "log in" has no clear translation in some languages (eg: Spanish), so we use "authenticate" in Spanish or bilingual [technical] conversations
Some websites use "initiate session", which is a mouthful and super was weird.
(DeepL translates "log in" as "conectarse", which is first person singular perfect indicative active form of "connect". Not quite right, and also weird)
@camertron@b0rk@nicole Understandable, but not really accurate. The same word (which means "go in"/" enter") could be used for situations where no authentication occurs.
X plays an unavoidable central role in the chain. Nowadays, most components of the architecture (udev, evdev, the compositor) have become self-sufficient in accomplishing their individual tasks and therefore do not need X for nothing else than as a dumb data relay. The proponents of #Wayland realised this and decided it would make more sense to replace X altogether with the compositor, thus making the display server and the composite manager become the same thing. https://sgfault.com/post/2016/8/2016-08-22-display-server-primer/
