This will result in MORE regulation for home schoolers, and the issue of incompetent individuals who fail to act properly on concerns will nevr be addressed, the usual soundbites "lessons will be learned"

Perhaps rather than giving these useless managers / social workers promotion, then allowing them to take up other similar jobs, they should be SACKED, stripped of pensions and barred from any positions where the welfare of others is at stake.

It would provide an incentive to others that when it comes to safeguarding it is their job to ACT and not make excuses.

Perhaps reduce the benchmark where people can intervene.

It seems our government are sending out packs to schools to help teach kids 11+ about the dangers of vaping. Based on the above however, it seems that kids of 11 are already vaping so we need to target younger children with this.

The longer this lot stay in power, the UK is going to fail endlessly to get a grip on anything.

Just downloaded an application form for a job. For some that reason I can't fathom, the fields are write protected.

I am not sure why this is, granted I am trying to edit this in LibreOffice 7.x that comes with Debian 11, I also just tried with 7.4, and get the same issue.

A few weeks ago I put some pure Sodium Chloride in a beaker with de-ionised water to dissolve, then pured in to a small glass bowl and lkeft it to evaporate.

All the water has now gone, so I examined the resulting crystals under my USB Microscope.

I think they turned out OK, well some did.

Having copied files from an old PVR (digitial video recorder thingy) we have files such as this

These are on my main computer hard disk, I have a 2nd that is currently FAT32 (I think) but I can't copy these files due to the characters in the filename.

Is there a easy way to take these files, and rename them so I can stripo out all but the final period (which is between '091333.ts' for example.

I am running Debian, and it wom't let me copy over to the other HDD, While I can do this manually there are LOTS of files. So there has to be a way to do this, perhaps a combination of

rename , sed or other commands.

Any pointers welcome please.

No disrespect to King Charles III, but the BBC are once again appear to be giving wall to wall coverage, king has cancer, will step back from duties, the royal family will step up to do their job. There are other things going on in the worlad that are far more significant, such as the War in Ukraine, War in Gaza and the increasing crisis in Yemen and other parts of the middle east.

Thankfully there are some parts of the media and here of course, where in the true british spirit, we just carry on regardless of what the main stream is talking about.

Firstly, sorry for the lack of detailed ALT text. I just want to ask a quick question on this.

I am building the DNA base molecules with Molymods model kit.

Looking at Cytozine, where there is a C = C bond, it leaves a carbon bond empty on my model, does this suggest I should but Hydrogen in that location? Even though Hydrogen is not explicily shown on the diagram(s)?

If looking for work in the UK a job offer is generally required before a visa can be issued, the language here seems to suggest don't bother unless you can work in the UK.

A lot of talk about the Israel / Gaza war starting on October 7 2023. While this is the case, the IDF did not go in immediately, there was (I think) a good month after before the invasion started, so all the destruction has taken less than six months, if we take the start date of the invasion as when they went in.

There were incursions in to Gaza, for recon etc.

With regard to carbon capture, does this actually solve the wide issue of greenhouse emissions. I was under the impression that CO_2 is the MAIN greenhouse gas, however there are other gasses that contribute to the greenhouse effect.

So by removing CO_2 we solve part of the issue, only for cars, that are pumping out CO_2 they are also pumping out other gasses such as Oxides of Nitrogren and Sulful as well as carciogens such as Benzine, as well as particulates that are also dangerous to human health.

So how much does carbon capture actually solve the problem, when we just need to reduce these emissions, and plant more trees.

Or am i missing some important point here. ?

Debian 12 migration, part 1.

Having downloaded a Debian 12 image, I have now made this in to a USB install media. Next task is to test this on a laptop. I will upgrade my main PC at some point but need to do this slowly and figure out a few other things first.

But will attempt an install over the weekend.

Seems they need to update their list as it is now 2023, Facebook is for elderly people anyway, Twitter does not exist, no one uses Yahoo (I thought that went the way of the dodo over a decade ago) Goggle is spyware and Bing is microsoft garbage.
