With the introduction of Dolby Surround 7.1 in 2010, Sony were eager to put out a full home theater system. One of their early models, the HT-A7.100, included a revolutionary evolution to the standard stereo jack: the 7.1 surround jack, allowing all 8 channels to be sent over one cable.
@StillIRise1963 It made NO SENCE to create this inbalance. Board members do NOT have to allow such obscenely high salaries to CEO’s, etc… esp when the planet has such ridiculously high numbers of homeless and allowing people to starve to death while others enjoy caviar on the deck of their mega yachts. 🖕🏻
I bought an in-home device to remove unwanted body hair and I've been really happy with how well it's been working, but my biggest concern is whether or not I’m always going to want my remaining pubic hair to be in the shape of a pot leaf. Like, I know it's timeless NOW, but will I feel the same when I’m 90?
I'm thinking, for a change, of not buying a local SIM (or eSIM) for my upcoming trip to Switzerland. It's only ten days, so if I use data sparingly and stick only to wifi on some days, I should be able to use my Australian number on Telstra's $10/day international roaming day pass, and not spend much more than a new SIM. Hmmm worth a try I think.
Every winter: 🦝 ah, time to make the annual "Here's how to DIY an anti-SAD lightbox" post
Every summer: 🦝 oho, time to make the annual "Here's how to suck cold air in" post
@ifixcoinops Hi, it’s winter down here 🇳🇿 Can I see the anti-SAD post?
It's also cold if you have a reverse of your summer one, but since the outside daytime air is still Cold, the heatpump and insultation is probably my best bet.
@ifixcoinops I used to do this a lot before wildfire season. Unfortunately the last few years the hottest days have also been combined with a literal forecast of "Toxic Air" and warnings not to open doors/windows/go outside.
Weeeeee.
This does work in my new place just with the two upstairs windows tho! One side of the place is always cooler, one hotter. So I leave both windows open and enjoy a cross breeze upstairs til the temp climbs in the AM.
@mivox idk what pot of money this one came out of but it also has heli-placed aluminum stairways 😂over several steep areas people used to get lost in, it is a masterpiece! The cool thing is that it has legit gotten so many more people hiking regularly because it is actually accessible to everyone who can walk, plus the first section is wide enough for walkers etc too — it’s really been transformational, worth every penny
@ai6yr the Minnesota branch of my family is divided into three warring factions: the ones who love Norwegians, the ones who hate Norwegians, and the ones who are Norwegians.
They have been expressing their frustration for decades by mailing lutefisk to each other.
Me: "Hi, my name is Blaise and it's been 157 days since I last ssh'd into production."
<applause>
Audience: "Hi Blaise"
Me: "I want to thank my sponsor, Hazel, for reminding me that looking at my commit history helps remind me how precious and fragile my sobriety can be."
my friend teaches creative writing at a private school. he’s now forced to upload a calendar and a detailed syllabus with itemized evaluation points and not deviate from this at all, because the school considers this a contract with the customer (the student). absolute hell.
@lzg but is there an enviable side to that backwardness? it sounds like the 1990s in Europe - 28800 baud and cyberspace on CD. or is this a really new thing, rather than „finding out wrong“?
@unormal another unpleasant thought: does the problem go away / change characteristics if you toggle your naked project to the other BCL (.NET vs .NET Standard)
